Gotta give Argentina a huge amount of credit here. They did fantastic work getting back into this game.

Coach K needs to stop losing games with poor decisions. How about keeping a big man in the game to defend Luis Scola? Or how about a double team when Scola backs Tayshaun down 20 feet with his back to the basket? Just a quick double to get it out of his hands? I have an inkling that it might help. Coach K's decision spurred that late Argentinian drive after they started sputtering following their initial run.

Anybody else digging the old "NBA on NBC" theme music they've been playing throughout the Olympic basketball games?  All that's missing is Marv Albert and the Czar.

A happier time for basketball on tv....

ARG came back because the US has yet to bust the zone defense.  No one on the US team can knock down the outside shot.  Hopefully Redd will be able to bust up the zone.

Oh, and no good inside defense on Scola.

That block on Melo was legit, very ugly call. Argentina would probably be leading if they had Manu and Nocs healthy. US interior defense is horrid, trying to defend Scola with Prince is laughable.

Lithuania was better than Spain, that is still to show some kind of offense. Too bad for Lithuania that Siskauskas prefers to keep his Baltic Pippen persona going on; he should tell Sarunas to shut up and get out of the way and lead his team as the Baltic Jordan. Awesome player though, would love to see him in the NBA while he's in his prime.

US is not playing their best team ball, a lot of selfish stuff.

They're playing a little more like a team now.

Team USA caught a major break already with Argentina's injuries. Now if they only get the refs to call the game as they should.

By the way, if you thought Tommy is a homer, you gotta listen carefully to the NBC feed.

That's about the only thing that sucked about the Celtics winning this year.  When we watch our championship DVD's years from now and play broadcasts of the games, it won't have that great NBA on NBC intro and we're stuck listening to Mike Breen drule all over Kobe and the Lakers.  The ABC music just doesn't cut it.

Melo is really annoying me this game.

Game done I think after those back-to-back LeBron 3's. Scola is quality, Delfino is quality (he'll shine in the Lakers line-up next year ;)) but without Manu they can't do it.

How come when I went on NBA.com it says that the game is in the 3rd quarter but when I watch on my TV it's only in the 2nd quarter?

  • Yup
I hate that I'm still finding myself pulling for the Argentines to make it a game.  I guess if it got close I'd start feeling all patriotic.
Yup

They're both wrong, it's in the 4th.
