In Brown we finally have a player

Before we declare Brown a super star, he needs to address a few things, like his ball handling, and his shooting isn't great. And getting to the rim in college is different than getting to the rim in the NBA.

He is much longer than Marcus Smart, and you cannot teach length.

You can't teach length. You can't teach height. You can't teach heart. I know... I've heard all the buzz phrases.

There's a reason that they ARE buzz phrases. More often than not, they're true.

that can get to the rim with size. Right now the only player we have that can get to the rim is IT and he is kind of small. Now we have a long athlete that can explode to the basket.

Rim attacking is good, but isn't the defense just going to collapse and make Boston's mediocre shooters shoot?

i don't think we should worry too much about finding shooters until it's actually time to contend

I've been saying it's a two player draft. I'm not saying Jaylen is or isn't the 3rd best player. I hope he is. But essentially if he turns out not to be he'll be a bust. That's why you draft 3rd....to get the 3rd best player.

Rich Gotham (not a basketball guy I know but still with an ear to what's going on) said tonight this guy will be best athlete on the team.  I'm real anxious to watch this guy play.  You're projecting down the road not taking players on current face value and just because a game is 'similar' to a player we know (think Bender/Porzingis) doesn't mean they'll develop the same way.

Some people have a hard time holding more than one concept in their minds at the same time. Yes, I hate the Celtics draft. And - yes - I am a Celtics fan and bleed green. Disliking the draft does not make you "less worthy" as a fan - but I think for some people, it does mean that. And who wants to be a "less worthy" fan.

Maybe Brown will surprise me - but if he isn't a terrific player, I think Danny needs to turn the drafting over to someone else. He really hasn't picked anyone GREAT, aside from Jefferson and Rondo (and I'll always think of what Delonte West could have been if he hadn't been traded).

Brown is 6'7 with a 7'0 wingspan and is the most athletic wing in the draft.

Am I worried that he doesn't have a good outside shot yet?  Of course I am.

But in terms of upside, outside of Simmons, Ingram, and Bender, Brown has got probably the highest upside in the draft.

Brown is going to be our Justice Winslow.  He'll struggle on offense as a rookie, but he'll be an immediate, top-15% wing defender almost immediately.  He's got the potential to be a lot more than that as he develops.
