EL CHE GINOBILI!!!!

One of my all time favorite.  He gave the Lakers hell. A Celtic in disguise....

Thanks for the memories Manu.

Totally saw him coming back for one more year in SA. Kind of crazy how SA has slowly moved into the next phase youth movement. I mean, it is hard to peg their rotation of the top of your head at this point with Duncan, Parker, Leonard, Ginobili all gone.

So long to one of the real ones. He arguably changed the game even more than greater players of his era, with his crafty footwork, savvy play and next-level flopping  ;)  And dude was an absolute assassin. Once he slowed down on the flopping I became a big fan.

So glad Philly didn't manage to sign him a couple of years back, that series last year gets a lot scarier with Manu roaming around at crunchtime, 40 or not.  He'll be missed.

Great summary.  I loved his heart and ability to find a way, hated his flopping.  Overall I'm going to miss watching Ginobili.  Hell, I miss boring old Duncan-Parker-Ginobili San Antonio.  Here's where it truly ends.

Passing genius, trigonometry problem solver, next play seer.

Ginobili's Top assists

No.11 is probably my favorite.
An assist that traveled more out of bounds than in the court.
No.2 epitomes him as a player.
Hustling, running the break, being creative, making it easy for his teammates and giving the crowd their money's worth entertainment.

My Best Friend is a huge Spurs fan and Manu is his favorite player. He was very special, heady, clutch. He was Pop's gamechanger. FIBA and NBA going to miss him. Didn't complain whenever he comes off the bench even though he was clearly the Spurs 2nd-3rd best player. I just wish he didnt miss that freethrow that gave the Heat their first championship.

Manu played just 2 All-star games -

Melo played 12
Joe Johnson 7
Eddie Jones 3 (I liked him)
Steve Francis 3
...
Reminder: Think trice when using Allstar appearances as criteria for anything.

Had a nice career, but he should have retired three years ago.

Patty Mills is now the only member of the Spurs that was on the title team that has been on the Spurs since the title (Belinelli is now back, but left).

Also got me wondering, with his retirement which player has the longest consecutive tenure on one team.  Is it Westbrook or am I not thinking of someone?

Dirk.  If he comes back I think Haslem is second.

Not sure he's back, but Nick Collison goes back to the Seattle days with Thunder organization.

Marcus Smart, the longest tenured Celtic is pretty amazing.

And it has been Smart for a couple of years, which is even more amazing.

I always forget Collison is still on that team since he never plays.  Same with Haslem and the Heat.  Missing Dirk was pretty crazy.

Collison officially retired a few months back.

RE: Smart - how many teams have coaches with a longer tenure than their longest tenured player?  Pop obviously but Stevens has only been here 5 years!
