Today, with a wide range of feelings, I'm announcing my retirement from basketball. IMMENSE GRATITUDE to everyone (family, friends, teammates, coaches, staff, fans) involved in my life in the last 23 years. It's been a fabulous journey. Way beyond my wildest dreams.

I feel like he was kind of forced to do this once they got rid of parker and leonard. Kind of feels weird, though he was very diminished as a player.

He was guaranteed 2.5M for 2018-2019 though.

Certainly a hall of famer. One of the most versatile SG’s the league has ever seen. Going to miss watching him play.

Some say if it wasn’t for the spurs and Popovich’s system, he wouldn’t have been able to shine the way he did. I strongly disagree with that. The guy clearly had the talent to be great anywhere, he just happened to have been lucky enough to be drafted somewhere he could win multiple titles and put his talent on full display. I even think he sacrificed a lot of his game to fit that system.

So long to one of the real ones. He arguably changed the game even more than greater players of his era, with his crafty footwork, savvy play and next-level flopping  ;)  And dude was an absolute assassin. Once he slowed down on the flopping I became a big fan.

So glad Philly didn't manage to sign him a couple of years back, that series last year gets a lot scarier with Manu roaming around at crunchtime, 40 or not.  He'll be missed.

My favorite player of the 2000's.
I felt it coming, that with Duncan, Parker and Kawhi gone, he would hang them up.

Maybe the most under rated player in the league during the last generation or so. He will be missed in San Antonio.

HOFer when he's eligible.

His only bad mark is that he didn't play for BOS. :)

Yeah Popovich basically said as much, and that letting Manu be himself taught him a lot about giving freedom as a coach, in a clip I just watched.

He was always one of my favorites.

Exactly how I want my wings to play.  Versatile, scrappy, creative, hyper-competitive, weird, clutch.

One of the more interesting players in the last couple of decades.  Fun to watch, always had more game than people gave him credit for.  Always amazing when a pro athlete plays past 40.  Inspiration for us old guys.  He was a great competitor and a champion at the highest level in his sport.

As others have touched upon, with the departure of Parker and Kawhi I felt this was inevitable. Very sad to see him go, one of my all time favourite players. That chest-pass shot thing he got in against the Knicks this season was classic Ginobili
