Why is the market for Gary Harris kind of weak. Is it injury history? I can’t help imagining what this dude would look like with our other defensive hounds. Would you give White? Would they? I always see his name come up before his signing but sometimes he’s just left off target lists.
I’m curious about die hard Celts opinions on this dude.
Thanks and good health to all.

Gary Harris agreed to stay in Orlando for 2 years, $26 million.  He came off the board pretty early in day 1.  I wouldn’t consider that weak.

I can't speak to his "market" because I haven't looked into it, but my opinion on him is that he has a much longer track record as an ineffective/injured player than he does as a good one.

If his most recent year with Orlando is more indicative of his expected future production than the three years preceding it, then he has value.  I'm good to let somebody else make that bet though.  I like our guard rotation as is.

Well, he wasn't *too* overlooked, since he just re-signed at $13 million per year.

What do you like about him?  He's got a long injury history, has barely cracked double digits scoring lately, and the last three years he's shot 33.9%, 33.3%, and 34.0% from 3PT.  He's been below .500 eFG% each of those seasons.  He's below average at rebounding and passing, and his defense has been really spotty.

He's a shooter who struggles to shoot, and a scorer who struggles to score.  He's not worth the taxpayer MLE, let alone double that.

He had well-known problems shooting for 3 years until he rebounded some last year. Average at best defensively.

I remember when the C's drafted James Young ahead of this guy.

Yeah, Harris was the guy that I liked in that draft.  I also liked Rodney Hood, and was surprised that Clint Capela fell as far as he did.

Harris and Capela are off the table, but we can still get Hood.  ;-)
