I have no idea what the general valuations of these players are, but what would people think about:

To Sacramento: Smart, Poirier, #14 pick
To Boston: Hield, Giles

Giles has more upside than Poirier (who doesn't?) and I believe is one of Tatum's best friends. At worst he takes up Poirier's wasted space on the roster. At best he's a young big man option that can potentially grow along with the Tatum/Brown core.

Hield and Sacramento don't seem to be working out. He could be the deadly secondary shooter the Celtics desire, rather than taking a chance on grabbing one in the draft. Smart isn't a foundational piece, but could help with the culture in Sacramento and makes for a dangerous pairing with Fox. Of course, to make up the difference in offensive value (and to entice them to accept Poirier), Celtics need to throw in a pick. Is #14 enough, too high, too low? Any interest in Hield and Giles? If so, is there a way to make it work?

I believe Giles is a UFA unless you're talking some type of sign and trade?  I haven't run this through any trade machine, but you may need to give Romeo too.

For our team, Hield isn’t worth Smart + #14.  He’s a malcontent who doesn’t contribute much outside of scoring.

Sweet. I can see Celts be interested

Giles and Grant Williams are also good friends from HS days

Ahhh, you're right. I was looking at the wrong year and thought he had a year left.

I would rather have Smart than Hield, and Hield costs a lot more.

It is unclear if Giles is going to ever be a contributing piece.  Given how little playing time Rob Williams has been able to secure on this team, I wouldn't expect Giles to get much time.

Brad requires a lot of his bigs.  If the team is going to add somebody who will actually earn time and make a difference next season, they need to add a seasoned player who knows how to play the game at a professional level already, whether that guy has gotten that seasoning overseas (as with Theis) or in the NBA.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Harry and Tatum has been friends, this I know for sure. But if this is the best Tatum can recruit, then maybe he should just stick to playing golf.

Kemba & Hield would be a bad defensive back-court. Similar tier t Dame and CJ.

Not sure I give up Smart for Hield we could move Kemba for Jrue Holiday

If he is a malcontent it is because Luke Walton is an absolutely terrible coach.  He has no business coaching a NBA team.  I'd be willing to say he is the worst coach in the game right now and frankly I don't think it is close.  He is just awful.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think you can get Hield for Hayward after he opts in. no need to trade the teams best defender who is a top playmaker AND a lotto pick for him.

'21 Historical Draft
PG: Kyle Lowry / Mookie Blaylock / Mark Jackson
SG: Reggie Miller / Jeff Hornacek / Nick Anderson
SF: George Gervin / George McGinnis / Kyle Korver
PF: Connie Hawkins / Serge Ibaka / Josh Smith
C: Clint Capela / Bill Laimbeer / Jusuf Nurkic

TP! No way would I trade Smart for Hield.

I absolutely love the Kemba-Jrue trade idea. You've mentioned this idea plenty of times. A couple questions on my part:

1. In a vacuum, which player has the higher trade value?
2. Would you do the trade if you were the Pels?

Rumor has it that the Pels may be willing to move on from Jrue. If I were them, I'd be looking for younger players who fit the time window of Zion, Ingram, Lonzo, Hayes, Alexander-Walker, etc. But then again, if they wanted to build a super young team, I guess they wouldn't have hired SVG.

I am not crazy about Heild for the money but how about this for a trade:

Heild and Jabari Parker (Parker needs to opt in)

for

Hayward and Kanter (both need to opt in)

Then sign Giles and give him a shot.

We save $8M in the trade (less what we sign Giles for), Heild you hope gets serious, Parker becomes a swing off the bench,  Sac gets some decent talent in return and can handle the added $8M.  I think Heild can give us at least what Hayward has the last few years, and maybe a little more, so nothing really lost there.  Parker, who knows, but we didn't get much from Kanter either.  Part of my thinking is that we are going to lose Hayward as an FA anyway.  Kind of cut our losses hoping that one of Heild or Parker sticks and contributes.

Hard pass. I’d throw a low level contract at Giles though as a low risk high reward potential in Brads system.

Him and Semi will be fighting hard for those 3rd string mins I guess. Idk why people want us to keep collecting players we have no use for.

I’d have a hard pass on this. I just can’t see how adding another scorer will improve the roster.
