I'm a bit surprised he joined the Rockets instead of his buddy Lebron in LA to be honest, but in the long run I don't think this changes things much for any team.

Pretty much all he can do anymore is shoot 3’s as a stretch four so I can’t think of a better spot for him, may even get the nod to start.

To be clear he hasn’t signed anywhere yet.  The trade from OKC to Atlanta won’t be competed until the end of this week, and then he has to officially clear waivers.

Can I think he actively made the Thunder a worse team last year and was the reason they lost in the first round, but then somehow think he will have a rebound year with the Rockets?

I honestly think Rockets got worse by replacing Ariza with Melo.

Assuming they don’t lose Capela, the rest of their offseason was pretty unspectacular considering how close they were to the Finals.

They are still the second best team in the West imo, but if they were on par with GSW last season, they have fallen below them this season.

Especially if Boogie is firing post All-Star break (assuming he expects a lesser role, and doesn't ruin their chemistry - we can dream!)

It's interesting to see normal aging in the context of LeBron.

won't move the needle for Houston.  well, not forward anyway.  could move them backwards depending on play and attitude

For a team that's all offense it makes sense if he wants to start, play, score, and win. He fits in as a starting forward for them.

Does it make them better? Debatable. Losing Ariza and LRMAM hurts.

Was Westbrook worst possible teammate for melo? Could be better with paul harden?

Harden and Paul are better passers in Transition. Melo will do alot better. Plus it is shoot it in Houston. And Melo is not affraid to shoot.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
De'Anthony Melton will be the most important Rockets acquisition this year, both in the current and long-term lens.

You can, although it feels like a tough argument.  Carmelo has been a pretty inefficient shooter over his last four seasons, and he’s still going to be the 3rd ball handler on the court most possessions, meaning he won’t be asked to create much (which is still his personal strength).  Maybe he’ll improve a little because sometimes numbers can be fluky, but he’s had a meager .525 TS% total over the last four seasons.  At age 34, there has to be a point where it’s no longer about situation and is really just about Carmelo.
