The Knicks have emerged as frontrunners to land Steve Nash in a sign-and-trade deal, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Knicks, Suns are in the critical stages of discussions on a sign-and-trade deal that would pay Nash $27M-$30M over 3 years, sources tell Y!

Quote
NY package would include Iman Shumpert, Toney Douglas and likely 3 low money players to get Nash salary needed to close gap on Toronto offer

he would make them pretty good instantly curious how this shakes out

hmm interesting, Phoenix doesn't want to lose him for nothing. Shumpert is a good prospect/great defender and a guy that could really help them down the line, better hope Nash  helps the Knicks right now because he only has a few years left and it seems like a high price to pay

How much better does this really make the Knicks, Nash, Stoudamire, Anthony, Chandler and no 5th starter or bench.

That four is not nearly talented enough defensively (even with Chandler) to be a contender.

Makes sense for Nash, and I'm glad if he doesn't go to LA or Miami. I think it's a bad move for the knicks though. They potentially lose Shumpert and Lin and get an old Nash. They won't legitimately contend with that lineup, and they get older and less flexible salary wise.

Also, Nash adds another awful defender on the floor for them.

Strange decision.

I don't understand Phoenix taking back that salary to make this sign and trade. They need more incentive for it to be worthwhile for them.

The Knicks would still have their MLE, right?

They should sign Courtney Lee. He'd be a great low usage defensive minded sharp shooting role player for that star-studded starting lineup.

My guess is the Bulls will land Lee, he would be a great fit for them.

Maybe they really like Shumpert.

They keep making poor decisions. I like the Knicks but if they don't want to be a threat to our Celtics or Miami, then that is their fault.

I dont know, I like the addition a lot for the Knicks... Even if its a tad bit pricey. They are giving a lot of money to four players.... However, if Nash, Melo, Amare and Tyson all play to their potential that is a scary foursome. They need a guy like Nash to run that team and reign in Melo and Amare. Nash and Chandlers will be huge for that team. I like it.

I can't wait to hear that Melo can't play with Nash off the ball, lol

Melo will turn Nash into a spot up shooter.

Ironically, mike d'antoni is the perfect coach for this team. It would be like the Phoenix Suns redeux, except with a ball hog and weaker bench.

I can't wait to watch that reality happen.
