The Jaren Jackson Jr for Tatum trade is probably most interesting.

That is actually realistic too.

Maybe Memphis bites because they convince themselves that Tatum might be the star player in the league most likely to re-sign in Memphis since he's got such ties to St Louis and Tatum seems like a low key kind of guy.

I've heard some scouts believe Jackson Jr is basically an AD/Town level prospect. You can go years without finding that skillset in the draft.

I don't think Danny likes the idea of young bigs though. The one that makes the most sense is the Hayward for Griffin swap. I really like that trade as long as Hayward signed off on it.
I'd probably do it straight up. Thing is, the Grizzlies have zero incentive to trade JJJ. I bet they would ask for their pick back as well. Would you do Tatum + Memphis pick for JJJ? Personally speaking, I don't think it would be worth it anymore.

It depends on how you value Jackson and where you think Tatum will end up.

I think right now most feel that Tatum is on track to be at least a top 30 player within the next 2 seasons, possibly rising as high as top 5-10 but his sophomore season was a disappointment so who knows if that was the an aberration or reality.

Jackson Jr is no where near top 30 yet but definitely displayed elite potential in his rookie season. Both he and Tatum have a ton of work to do to become strong enough to not get pushed around at their respective positions. Both are a top 3 player models in the league (Switchable hybrid stretch big - shot creating 2 way wing). The difference with us is that with Hayward and Jaylen we already have shot creating 2 way wings.

Adding Jackson Jr to a core of Kemba/Jaylen/Hayward/Smart is a really exciting prospect if you ask me. It could be just about the highest possible ceiling to maximize the output of this group... or Tatum could turn into an efficient Kobe Bryant while Jackson Jr tops out at Miami Heat era Chris Bosh.

Tough call but if given the opportunity, I would probably part with Tatum and the Memphis pick for Jackson Jr.

I feel Jaylen, Tatum and Hayward are all SFs.

Of the 3, Jaylen is the one best able to play a second position - at SG. I don't know why Jaylen should be the odd one out.
Yep, couldn't agree more.

I guess people are gonna hate this, but I'd consider a deal around Tatum and Jaren Jackson Jr. Not sure whether the Grizzlies would go for it. They'd probably ask for their pick back as well. Not sure I'd be willing to go that far.

- amazing young talent (in all honesty, I'd take him over Tatum)
- legit size for a PF (we have no legit PF right now, expect maybe Theis)
- one extra year on a team friendly contact

Hayward to Indy for Turner and matching salary

Tatum for Sabonis could work as well.
The Pacers would do it in a heartbeat. No way would the C's do it. That's a massive overpay on our part.

I'm sure Hayward is just chomping at the bit to uproot his family from Boston and move off to Detroit of all places. I am not saying Detroit doesn't have its positives, but it's hardly a deal I see Hayward signing off on.

I understand the premise behind deals that send Brown or Tatum out for Ayton/Bagley/JJJ, but I just don't see both teams agreeing to such a deal. And any deal for a star already on a max contract will start with one of the Jays and Smart at a minimum. If Ainge didn't cash in his chips when things were falling apart last season, I don't see him making a hasty decision now unless it is a slam dunk deal.

Hayward makes the most sense because of the uncertainty of his future (we only officially have him for one more season, he may not be back to normal), but I am hoping for big things from him this season and think that he can take over the Horford offensive front-court role with ease, while adding more on-the-move playmaking.

I know there is no possibility of Hayward getting traded because of the Stevens connection, but even so I'd love to see this trade.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y6z54q6o

Hayward to Indiana for Myles Turner, Doug Mcdermott (for salary), and Alize Johnson (for salary).

Hayward goes back to Indiana and gives the Pacers another wing. For us, we need a legit, modern day NBA center with this lineup we have. Turner is young, is an elite rim protector/defensive specialist (led the league in blocks as well with 2.7 a game), and shoots the 3 at 38%.

Walker/Edwards/Waters
Smart/Langford
Brown/Dougie/Semi
Tatum/GWilliams/Theis
Turner/Kanter/RWilliams

With a rotation of:

Walker (34)/Smart (4)/Edwards (10)
Smart (26)/Brown (12)/Langford(10)
Brown (20)/Dougie (24)/Tatum (4)
Tatum (28)/GWilliams (14)/Kanter (6)
Turner (32)/Kanter (16)

Other thoughts:

I like JJJ as much as the next guy but I don't want to move Tatum for him.

I love Jaxson Hayes almost as much as anyone in this draft but moving Brown for him before he has established anything is too risky for me.

Yeah, that's a tough call. I guess it depends on how much value you put on the Memphis pick as well.

For instance
I'd do Tatum + late lottery pick for JJJ
I wouldn't do Tatum + top 5 pick (in 2021) for JJJ

At the end of the day, you can't possibly be sure about these things.

Both are a top 3 player models in the league (Switchable hybrid stretch big - shot creating 2 way wing).
In all honesty, I'm not sold on Tatum being a 2-way player. I'm with you about JJJ though. I believe he would be a great fit next to the rest of our starters.

For what it's worth, here's an article from the Grizzlies blog on SBNation. The author makes a list of 8 players he'd be willing to trade JJJ for. Tatum is one of them.

How would people feel about a trade revolving around Gordon Hayward for Steven Adams and Gallinari?  "Who" mentioned Gallinari in the Marcus Smart trade thread and it reminded me of a deal that I was playing around with in trade machine a few weeks ago.

A package of Hayward, RWIII, Langford, and Semi would be enough salary in a trade for Adams and Gallinari.  This deal would give OKC young talent and get them out of the luxury tax.  For the Celtics, it's a clear move to win now.  I'd want an additional lottery protected pick in return.

I think you could make solid arguments for and against the trade, with Hayward being the biggest wildcard.  I'd definitely say no if I knew that Gordon would return to All-Star form.

Why are we giving up two prospects for a player whom they were trying to salary dump and a rental wing? I assume its to make the money work? I wouldn't move RWIII/Lanford for one year of Gallo.

Better to play out the string with Hayward than lose those pieces.

I agree with you.  It makes more sense to see if Hayward can return to form.  At the same time, I think it's worth entertaining a deal if Gordon clearly doesn't have it anymore.  The Celtics would need a 1st round pick or two in return, although both would likely need to be lottery protected.

I think JJJ and Tatum will reach about the same heights as far as impact overall, but in terms of fit I trade Tatum for JJJ 10/10 times. Would include a pick as well. I think Tatum fits great in Memphis, and I think JJJ fits perfectly here. I dont think JJJ can be a number 1 option offensively, and tatum can, but again the fit is the key point here.

A lineup potential of Smart/Brown/JJJ is a defensive force with Kanter able to grab all the boards. Once RW3 catches up to the NBA (sooner than later) you can add another freak defensive potential player there.

Anyway, back to the question - bigs I'd trade Jaylen for.

(1) Jaren Jackson
(2) Karl Anthony Towns
(3) Jokic

I'm too sacred of Embiid's & Porzingis' long term health. Not sure I give up Jaylen for either of them.

Maybe Ayton but I am not fully sold on that.

I like Mo Bagley but not enough to part with Jaylen to get him.

Guys like Steven Adams and Rudy Gobert are only one-way players and I am not giving up a two-way wing with serious upside for either of those guys. Myles Turner is not talented enough (nor is Sabonis).

Is there anyone else I am forgetting?

Pascal Siakam is very high on my list. I love the way he can be an impact player without needing the ball in his hands a ton. Reminds me of Draymond in that way. Also a versatile defender who I think will continue to expand in that regard. Plus, he has the size and tools to defend Giannis and Ben Simmons (who I think will eventually develop a jumper) which will be important for the next 5-10 years in the East.

Hayward is Brad's boy.

There's a bigger chance of Smart and Brown getting traded than Hayward.

Brad and Ainge will give Hayward all the opportunities he needs to prove that he can return to All-Star form.

Not sure it makes sense to trade Hayward for scraps. Better off keeping him and seeing if he can get back to his normal self.
