You're right, FL. Bavetta's reputation is keeping games within striking range.....

From my earliest involvement with Bavetta, I learned that he likes to keep games close, and that when a team gets down by double-digit points, he helps the players save face. He accomplishes this act of mercy by quietly, and frequently, blowing the whistle on the team that's having the better night. Team fouls suddenly become one-sided between the contestants, and the score begins to tighten up. That's the way Dick Bavetta referees a game — and everyone in the league knew it.

I don't know what'll be the standard of officiating tonight...but I hope and pray that its respectable and an evenly called game.

I guess I have been waiting 10 months for this day and it is here. There is nothing like the playoffs. Win or leave the tournament. It doesn't matter whether you won 40 games or 75 games (well in the WC you needed 50 to get in the tournament). So the Celtics have had a crummy season. Guess what - press Control - Alt - Delete and start over at 0-0 and hope the C's find four wins before the Heat do and maybe we will be lucky enough to play our grudge match with the Bulls next round.
