According to NBA TV, Rondo is starting.
According to NBA TV, Rondo is starting.Hopefully, Rondo is in better shape than he was in Sacramento.
Has anyone else's NBA TV gone black?Black out?
Don't take Tony lightly he can finish and will take it to the rack if you ignore himAccording to NBA TV, Rondo is starting.Hopefully, Rondo is in better shape than he was in Sacramento.
At least they'll be able to hide him defensively on Tony Allen. Let Bradley handle Conley.

Are you in the Memphis area? If so that's probably why as a local blackoutHas anyone else's NBA TV gone black?Black out?
Yeah, my screen's gone black and nothing is working. Already tried turning my Tv off and on.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe Bad Tony Allen will show up tonight. That would be nice to see. I love Tony, but tonight he can be awful and that will be ok.

Jason Collins is soooooooooooo bad. He's a defensive specialist that isn't that great at defense.
On the Pierce 3 defense collapsed on a Bradley cut leaving them scrambling and kg followed by Pierce being open.
Collins is such garbage. Melo really could not be any worse
Collins is such garbage. Melo really could not be any worse
With a concussion he could be :P
get collins outta there he's gassed! My guess is that Doc is scared of leaving Bass or Sully in to defend Marc Gasol.
Looks like the Celtics are well up for this one.And great shooting by PP
Showing lots of effort and good intensity so far.
...and still no NBA TV. Welp, goodnight folks. I was really looking forward to watching Avery play, but I guess Insight decided to crap on my day. Hoping we win.
Nice to see Bass get to the foul line. Excellent pass by Sully to find him.
His confidence is a little low at the moment.Nice to see Bass get to the foul line. Excellent pass by Sully to find him.
Still, when Bass got the ball I think he was tentative. He didn't go up strong and force contact. A small fake got the foul but he could have been more aggressive. I like Bass, but I just feel like he has to learn to be more physical offensively. Draw contact. Get the shot up quicker when 10-12 feet out. Defenses can give him space because they know he won't shoot unless wide open.

Not old enough to have a credit card, but TP for your help.
I like this all second unit line up.
Avery has healed all, Brandon Bass and Courtney Lee are playing well tonight.
Jet looks way too slow to create his own shot.
we've looked decent but man do we desparately need a bigYeah. I am just thinking how much better they'd look right now with Dalembert out there instead of Collins. It is pretty exciting to think about.
KG in a slump
oh.......we 'll small ball it is. ::)what exactly do you want doc to do? play jason "1 rebound 0 pts in 20 minutes" collins, or play our very skilled reserve non-big players?
Can't beat 65% shooting (4-6 from 3). Memphis needs to cool off and Boston can't let up.
Tony Allen or Avery Bradley? Who is better?
I love TA's superior possession creation and his size defensively but Bradley's better jump-shot I think makes Bradley the better offensive threat.
Pierce is trying to stay hot. KG being cold and all. Who should shoot? Collins?Rondo needs to create more in these situations. Either as a scorer or a passer.
we coulda signed tonly allen :'(
Pierce has turned into a bit of a ballhog.

Dribble penetration. Get into the paint.
we need cousins in the worst way

Does he have much of a choice? I hate seeing him force shots, but hell who else is doing anything?
we coulda signed tony allen :'(
I'm not sure whether Rondo is playing tentative or whether it's his injury.Pierce is trying to stay hot. KG being cold and all. Who should shoot? Collins?Rondo needs to create more in these situations. Either as a scorer or a passer.
Dribble penetration. Get into the paint.
Agreed. id love to see him in the paint then kick out. Do you think he is trying to dial down the assists at all? Maybe score more yet the hip is holding him back? I like seeing Avery back.

He started the game great and the team responded to that. From that point on though, he was much less of a threat going to the basket.
We looked great in the first half with Bradley and Collins out there - the defense was really solid. Seems Bradley would force his assignment towards the baseline where they would run in to the giant tree that is Collins.I'm not watching the game, but I find it hard to believe Bradley has been so useful in a game in which Mike Conley is single-handedly killing us.
Collins was very active with both his hands and his movement in that first half too.
He may not get any offensive production, but I wouldn't mind seing him out there with Bradley again.
stupid shot taking also when everybody is cold on jumpers. why not attack? is doc even telling them this? jeebus, i mean really is it that hard doc to spot?

why this team shoots bricks when they are ice cold is insane. hey doc you are the coach put a stop to it !!!! DO YOUR JOB!
attack the basket!
JASON COLLINS MADE A JUMPSHOT. WORLD IS ENDING.
JASON COLLINS MADE A JUMPSHOT. WORLD IS ENDING.
i want tony allen back!!!
You just spoke my mind word-for-word. Posey's carcass and all.i want tony allen back!!!
Yeah. I'd take Perk, Tony, and Scal back tomorrow. Heck, I'll take Posey's petrified bones on the bench, too.
What can you do when a team shoots 8-12 from three? Not give them open shots. Somehow in years past when every jumper was taken with a hand in the face, teams tended to _not_ shoot 8-12 very often.
I'm glad for Tony Allen. He got quite a bit of abuse on these very pages when he was here. From Sal-mon to constant references to his low IQ and impulsivity on the court. I'd like to have him on the c's but he would not be turning this team around.Ironically, he's still the same player he was when he left(~25 mpg, 45-48% from the field, 8-10 ppg, solid defense). And outside of today's came, he's mired in the middle of his career-worst shooting season (.400 from the field).
Tony Allen is KILLING US.Not too surprising. Good cutter/slasher that plays perhaps the best defense in the league at his position. On top of that, he's hitting threes. I mean, come on.
I repeat, Tony Allen is KILLING US.

We are outclassed nightly nowadays.

We're playing like carps though.

Same plaguing issues with or without Bradley, this team is going nowhere without acquiring another big man. And no, not just any 7'0 scrub body.

we tried telling people AB would not make the difference. we need a big man who can play D and score and rebound.
Oh Bass...Poor fella ... he was doing so well up until he mishandled it.
Nothing to be done about a lot of these shots they're making.... and the like.
We're not getting Cousins. Can we move on already?Same plaguing issues with or without Bradley, this team is going nowhere without acquiring another big man. And no, not just any 7'0 scrub body.

Exactly...I'd traded what ever it took to bring in Cousins
another scrub center an't gonna help :'(

Gotta love the effort, energy and enthusiasm he plays with.
What an embarrassment
... or ask for Irving..
I'm sick and tired of everyone's excuses.QuoteNothing to be done about a lot of these shots they're making.... and the like.
When you give people the confidence and the space to make shots THEY MAKE SHOTS!!! They're paid to make shots.
The Celtics may be getting a hand up on opponents' shots, but they've already allowed the other team to be completely at ease in their environment. The other team is confident they're going to make their shots because the Celtics are slow and lazy.
I'm disgusted by this team and I'm tired of fans (and Doc!) making lame excuses. This team is losing because they're lazy and complacent. This is a team of talented individuals playing poorly as a team. They're an awful team. Something needs to change.
The guy that said that Bird would have decked his teammate by now is right... EXCEPT who on Bird's teams would have deserved it? Those guys played hard back then. To the end.

Yep... or ask for Irving..
I think we could offer Rondo + Bradley + Sully + #1 and the Cavs would still turn us down.
Can you blame them? Why would you pick up the alleged future a sub-500 team doesn't want?... or ask for Irving..

Rondo/Bass/Collins and pick for Conley and Gasol.Bass is such a negative right now, Memphis probably wouldn't even consider it.
This team just rolls over. They are not even competitive. I mean blown out four straight games. What a waste...they don't even care
The performance tonight doesn't bother me like the other ones recently.really? other than the first quarter and a half, they've stunk
I think the effort has been good today. They've struggled but they have played hard.
I don't think Memphis does that trade.Rondo/Bass/Collins and pick for Conley and Gasol.Bass is such a negative right now, Memphis probably wouldn't even consider it.

Ehhh, probably more likely than actually contending for a title. And that has been talked about quite a bit, lol. So keep the Cousins talk going!

Where are all the Bradley apologists that come up with all the excuses as to not trade him and sully for Cousins?I wonder if you know anything about how our blog works...
I look at the rebounding total in which surprise, we are outrebounded by double the amount. Hm I wonder what the score would be if they were even....
I wonder if this would be a ball game instead of another blowout.
I wonder if you know anything about how basketball works.

Then they flat out stink. If they are playing hard to a poor Memphis team and still down big...they are just badIn case you missed it, that "poor Memphis team" currently sits on a 19-9 record.
Rondo/Bass/Collins and pick for Conley and Gasol. You think they want Rondo? I'll take Conley over Rondo

This teams a joke all these recent signings have been HOT GARBAGE. Rondo isn't consistent and awful defensively. KG and Pierce have many too many off nights. This team will struggle to make the eighth seed.
last year, down 13. You could put money this team would make a run. Not so much this year and we have more "weapons" :-[I haven't been willing to "put money this team would make a run" since 2009 or so.
I'd definitely look at trading Rondo right now if it could net us a good big and a decent team running PG. iI dont know what team presents us that opportunity, but I'd be calling around.horrible idea. rondo is the only guy in the league who can outsmart lebron.
Rondo can't be the centerpiece of a team, he just can't. The PG can't be. Name me the last time a team won a title because of their dominant PG play? Yeah, Rondo was great in 08, but that was because he was the role player PG in that offense and played MUCH better defense.

I like to see Sullinger move into the starting lineup next game instead of Collins.
See how that lineup works with Sully and Bradley in there alongside the Big Three.

all options are on the table now. anybody can be traded probably other than KG. he can still ball but i'm telling him i want more low post presence or you just may be shipped out also. enough is enough. rondo and PP are definitely on the table now also. As well as the possibility glenn is fired by Danny. The coach is ultimately responsible in the end. it is his baby. if they refuse to listen to him it is useless having any of them. simple as that. coach or players.
I'd definitely look at trading Rondo right now if it could net us a good big and a decent team running PG. iI dont know what team presents us that opportunity, but I'd be calling around.go back to the 80's with the Piston and Isaiah Thomas and the Lakers with Magic. it's not impossible but Rondo isn't Isaiah or Magic.

Good hard drive by Rondo. Missed the shot but I like the aggressiveness.it takes guys embarrassing him and us being drilled to show any fire smh ::)

unless rondo starts playing like magic johnson he is definitely on the table as an option to be traded.

Sully with a significant impact on this game.It makes such a difference to Garnett not being out there with Jason Collins.
Terry for 3 !!Terry for 2 (to give back)
This crowd is great. If the team can't wake up from this, check the pulse.

Oh come on, Rondo! Terrible.Dagger for us
absolutely correct which is what made him so dominant in that position. doesn't negate the fact he was the dominant PG of his time (and considered the starting PG on most all-time all-NBA teams)I'd definitely look at trading Rondo right now if it could net us a good big and a decent team running PG. iI dont know what team presents us that opportunity, but I'd be calling around.go back to the 80's with the Piston and Isaiah Thomas and the Lakers with Magic. it's not impossible but Rondo isn't Isaiah or Magic.

Isaiah Thomas is THE exception imo. Magic was 6'9. He is a point guard in play but wasn't prototypical point guard physically.
stupid shot by rondo. jeebus.

Statistically our three biggest "positive" players are KG (on defense), Pierce (on offense) and Terry (on both).
Rondo is a pure PG and a playmaker, he is capable of making the guys around him better but he still needs talent around him to be at his best.
He's not the type of player that can dominate games and put the team on his back every night. He can do it occasioanlly, but not all the time. He's just not offensively talented enough.
This is why I'm not as hessitant to trade Rondo as I once was. I love Rondo because he plays with hurt and he plays with a chip on his shoulder, but the second Pierce and KG are gone this team goes straight to lottery if Rondo is the guy we depend on to win us games.
Bradley can possibly replace KG as the teams defensive leader (he's that good) but we need an offensive leader to take over for Pierce and that to me is where Cousins comes in.
I feel DMC has the potential to be an elite offensive player in a couple of years once he develops his skill set, and I dont think any of the other guys we are talking about (Jefferson, Gortat, Milsap, Okafor, Nene) have the potential to be a go-to guy on offense.
On another note - who wanted to trade Terry again?
They ran out of time.ran out of gas is more like it. :-\
I wonder if Doc will start Sully the next game?
**** RONDO - NO MORE THREES!!Language please.
stupid shot by rondo. jeebus.
Are you sure that wasn't doc's fault?
Atleast we didn't lose by 18!
I wonder if Doc will start Sully the next game?I agree with some of the others, give sully a shot starting. Collins just isn't giving us enough to make much impact at all.

They showed some heart in the 4th. Still have bad tendencies that hurt them in close games though. Just don't (or can't) attack the rim enough.

Has anyone considered praying to St Anthony? Because Doc's ability to coach and the player's bball IQ is missing

Exactly. Rondo would be great as the PG if this team had the pieces it needed. I think Romdo is the only player with value that could net the team the pieces it needs. A team does not need a all time great PG to compete, it needs a good thinking PG who can run the floor, run the offense and stay on his man on the perimter on defense.
It also needs a dominant big man and a great wing scorer. Pierce can still be your wing scorer, but you need the big man. Rondo can probably get you that in a trade. You just need to find a decent PG with that.
No. We look like a team whose coach is making bets...gotta beat the spread, right? Do you think maybe we beat the spread on that west coast trip?Has anyone considered praying to St Anthony? Because Doc's ability to coach and the player's bball IQ is missing
we do not look like a smart, well coached team do we?
Cousins line tonight: 18 pts, 16 rebs (7 off) and 6 assts. Yeah, we could use that - should have pawned off Avery before Sacto saw tonight's game film.Wait, Avery played a bad game?

So now when the c's manage some good d down the stretch, doc gets no props? You can't have it both ways. If everything is Doc's fault (like you say in every post you ever make), then he was responsible for the comeback. So tired of the blame doc for everything.

Cousins line tonight: 18 pts, 16 rebs (7 off) and 6 assts. Yeah, we could use that - should have pawned off Avery before Sacto saw tonight's game film.

He was never a serious option. You'd have to give up ROndo. YOu don't land a prospect like that with a couple late 1st rounders (Bradley/Sully)
Note that he gets a lot of his offensive rebounds Glen-Davis-style (i.e. due to his own inability to finish consistently around the basket).Cousins line tonight: 18 pts, 16 rebs (7 off) and 6 assts. Yeah, we could use that - should have pawned off Avery before Sacto saw tonight's game film.

They showed some heart in the 4th. Still have bad tendencies that hurt them in close games though. Just don't (or can't) attack the rim enough.
and obviously doc cannot stress that enough....or they do not listen to him. which is it? hmmnnn
So now when the c's manage some good d down the stretch, doc gets no props? You can't have it both ways. If everything is Doc's fault (like you say in every post you ever make), then he was responsible for the comeback. So tired of the blame doc for everything.
...and let's pretend the Patriots started to suck really bad, even with the talent they have. Do you think Billy B would get a free pass? Why is doc like Teflon man, and able to dodge criticism?
Oh now we're blaming doc for this team's lack of talent? LolFront page article title idea:

if you think docs offensive jumper strategy is smart when we have 4 dribble drivers along with KG and sully to be used down low well.....nevermind
Offense is not the issue. If this team defended half as well as the team from two seasons ago, we'd be comfortably over .500, offensive flaws and all.Oh now we're blaming doc for this team's lack of talent? LolFront page article title idea:

Well we weren't just a jump shooting team tonight. I don't know if you were watching or not, but RR, PP, KG, BB, CL pretty much the whole team was taking it to the bucket. We just missed a lot of shots.

players should also be blamed for playing small ball lineups and for forsaking offensive rebounds or rebounding in general. ::)Oh now we're blaming doc for this team's lack of talent? LolFront page article title idea:I got a better one :

Did Rondo just shoot a contested three about 5 seconds into the shot clock?startin to worry bout if he can be a go to guy in da future. wit dis team strugglin nd him being a "leader" he hasnt been aggressive enought for my likin
Did I just see that or am I losing the plot?
Terrible is the only word that comes to mind. The difference between the team up until this year was we knew they had the talent to turn it on, I'm not so sure they have what it takes to do that again.

Good offense in the first—followed by junk for two quarters.right now any player can become an allstar when playing against our glorious D.
Good defense in the fourth—too bad it was the only such time, and too bad it would've taken GREAT defense to dig out of that 16-point hole they faced going into the fourth.
Mike Conley, Darrell Arthur, and Marreese Speights could be All-Stars—if they played Boston every game.
Boston's Big Three combine to shoot 15 for 39 (38.5%)—but don't worry, that doesn't happen often.
:-\ Sigh.
I'm still believing in this team, but they're making it awful hard. At least the bench shot well—14 for 25 (56%).

Man, was I the only one who thought Doc should have done the AB/Lee lineup early? AB/Lee on D together for just a few minutes of pressuring and annoying can probably work out very well for us.
I think Doc needs to go back to Bass starting, give us the same lineup as last season that was so great. Sully should be the first big off the bench. I think Collins has done all he is capable of... too bad it's not much/enough.
NO more starting Collins... it isn't working!!!!
I definitely agree with everything in your post. So many possessions watching people just jack up shots or not even care. I definitely think many of the new guys are just going through the motions just hoping KG and Pierce carry the team to a title. This isn't Miami folks and that won't happen.Terrible is the only word that comes to mind. No, the differene is effort.
POST SHORTENED
At this point i'd take any solid big man we could take for Bass and Lee.+1 on bass with terry rather than lee. i like lee's hustle on defense. i really like to see him more with AB on the backcourt. but i doubt if bass will be dealt watching how huge doc's man crush on him.
It seems to me that the reasons we lose is because KG is not playing 40 minutes. Without KG on the floor, we collapse. We need a backup who can handle some of the defensive load.
