I knew that Saric was a draft day trade, but I read somewhere that that pick was involved in some of the bigger trades in NBA History, so I looked it up.  For a refresher, Saric was taken at #12 in 2014.

The pick was originally owned by the Knicks.  In February 2011 it was traded to the Nuggets as part of the Carmelo Anthony trade that brought Anthony from the Nuggets to the Knicks.

In August of 2012, the Nuggets traded the pick to the Magic.  That was the Dwight Howard/Andrew Bynum/Andre Iguodala trade.

Then on draft day in 2014, the Sixers were going to take Saric at 10, but knew the Magic wanted to move up so in perhaps Hinkie's greatest trade, the Sixers moved back 2 spots to 12, and also acquired a 2015 2nd round pick (#35 - Willy Hernangomez) and a 2017 1st round pick (#5 - De'Aaron Fox).

This pick is just further confirmation that it is a bad idea to trade picks far in the future or to overpay on draft day to move up only a small amount (see Sixers and Celtics last summer).
