Am i the only one noticing how much he's improved in this area? I've seen him do a double dribble behind the back in traffic. I've seen him split double teams and get into the paint. I've seen him with the spin cycle. Even when the defender presses up against him, he's able to blow past and stay in control. I never realized how good of a ball handler Marcus was until now.

Reckon he workshopped with Kyrie? Saw him do a sick spin into layup-with-english as well! :]

Improved- yes, but not to the level of most starting PG in the league.
Same goes for Rozier.

The thing is, we don't need him to starting PG ball handling; although it would certainly help Smart in his obvious offensive deficiencies. But he's been better at making smarter plays, and been niftier in pick and rolls. He made some amazing plays, along with that spin and ol' English finish.

That's my guess as well, along with a more defined role and more minutes, it's pretty obvious that Smart has finally been able to play in a role where his main goal is to defend, play make, lead the team, and literally make the other team's night a living hell.

He's definitely gotten a lot better.  He's not a lead playmaker, and never will be, because he's just not enough of a scoring threat.  But as a secondary playmaker he's steady and reliable.

  • Yup
Not sure what the stats say, but it sure seems like he's playing the best ball of his career.

I wish they would post him up more.

He overpowers almost every other point guard in the league.

I general we have to get a more varied offense. More post play, pick-and-rolls, back cuts etc.

Almost all our offense sets right now are either isoplay or a screen for drive and kick.

Taking the ball away from Smart is like trying to steal a steak bone from a pitbull.
