I was reading this pretty lengthy thread about why the Cavs fans really can't stand their current team: http://realcavsfans.com/community/index.php?threads/most-of-us-do-not-like-this-team-why.48864/page-8
It is definitely a good read but it also got me thinking about the last time i disliked a Celtics team.
I am thinking for me personally I felt pretty negative about the 2004-2005 Celtics team. We had a real strange team with Gary Payton, Paul Pierce, Rickey Davis, Mark Blount, Lafrentz etc. They were kind of hard to root for and the sum equaled less than the parts. I remember just feeling annoyed by their playoff games. What about you guys?

Sorry about the green colored goggles, but I've never hated a Celtics team. I've disliked individual players, however.
The loathsome Curtis Rowe and Mark Blount come to mind immediately.

I feel like if you ever actually HATE your favorite team, then you're not really a fan of that team. You can hate certain parts, or want someone specific gone (coach, gm, player) but to have the feeling of hatred toward your so-called favorite team seems wrong. And not just saying it in a moment of rage, like if you lose or make a bad trade/pick. Actually believing it.

Hate is a very strong word, but I remember feeling a lot of resentment toward the 2010 team during that regular season for underperforming egregiously. They won me over again by turning it on in the playoffs, though.

His career in New England appropriately came to an end during training camp the following season, when first year head coach Bill Fitch, who couldn't bear to watch #41 loaf down the court one more minute of practice, instructed Rowe to "keep on running" into the locker room, out to his car, and back to his apartment where he was advised he could start looking for a new employer because he'd been cut. Wicks wasn't quite that bad, but, for whatever reason, is remembered as Rowe's soul mate when it came to lack of output.

That team stopped trying mid-season, and it really p---ed me off. I still remember one game in particular where I had enough. They were playing the Grizzlies, who were pretty meh that year, in Boston. The Celtics were dominated from the beginning by the likes of Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo, Marcus Williams, and Sam Young. Not only that, but it was the most egregious lack of effort I had ever seen as a Celtics fan. I can take being blown out, but I can't take that my team doesn't even care to fight back.
Throughout the entire game, I threw every bad word/phrase at the TV that came to my head at the Celtics. I can't remember the last time I told something to go F itself more than I did at the Celtics that night. For the first and only time ever as a fan, I gave up on them.
Sure they got their mojo back when they needed it, but man that team infuriated me.

yea, it kind of makes it hard to imagine Lebron going back there also. Also in reference to the comments about hate I chnaged the title of the thread. I am interesed in hearing more about Rowe and Wicks it was before my time.

Never a big fan of dee brown, Shaw, Dino, group but they gave their all
I'd have to say I've never hated a team. Hate Pintino and what we gave to that crooked guy but there have been a few times where I have not watched games religiously

I was pretty much out on the 2012-2013 team. Team was just too old and stale. Was more than ready for a change. Cavs seem to be in a similar situation. When your run is up it's up.

Did these same Cavs fans cheer the departure of Kyrie? There were a lot of fans on Fear the Sword that were dismissive of Kyrie's importance to their playoff success before this season started and were glad to see him go. Short memory of the game 7 shot (and outplaying Curry in the series) a few years back I guess.

Yea I didn't feel like it was worth pointing out, but I followed the Brooklyn pick on their forum all year and they been generally not into it all season. To call it a reaction to the one game was not very accurate.

The team that had Sidney Wicks and Curtis Rowe was a low point for me.

I started watching in 2001 and in that time I can't say I ever hated a team. I was obviously pretty out on the 2013-14 team that was in constant roster churn and clearly a stop-gap year. Jeff Green as your team's best player doesn't inspire much.
Even the 2006-07 that was tanking pretty hard had some fun Tony Allen moments, Delonte West was doing fun Delonte stuff, Al Jefferson was blossoming, and Gerald Green would do something cool every game. Yeah, I've never fully disliked a Celtic team in my time.

The '96-97 squad was tough to watch. Plus you had Todd Day on that team who I despised. The roster sucked & the team was clearly tanking. Not an enjoyable season. You can also point at that season as the start of Toine's bad habits.
The only team that I ever truly hated of the teams I root for were the '01 Red Sox. Most unlikable squad ever.

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there. The playoffs, and in particularly the never-bothered-to-get-in-shape Rasheed Wallace, where after dogging it all season with the promise it would be there when it mattered, Fat Sheed didn't have the conditioning of all things to step up to the level needed in game 7. Sheed cost us #18 in 2010, and I'll never be convinced otherwise. Just as KG's knee cost us in '09, and Shaq's ankle cost us in '12. But the team I didn't like was when they stopped holding each other accountable, which was with Sheed.
I'm bitter.
Just missed the Wicks year. Good thing.

Never hated a Celtic team since becoming a fan in '74. But there were some that was hard as hell to watch. Tops is probably that 78-79 team after the trade in the offseason with the Braves, changing owners, getting Marvin Barnes, seeing selfish jerks like Barnes, McAdoo and Rowe play for the team and, of course, losing Hondo. Tough year.

This signing is still a mystery to me. We all knew he wasn't that good, and somehow Danny was impressed by his 10 points and 7 rebounds for a 7fter. Funny that an overpay in 2004 was $7m per year.

I thought the LaFrentz trade was even worse than the Blount deal.

This signing is still a mystery to me. We all knew he wasn't that good, and somehow Danny was impressed by his 10 points and 7 rebounds for a 7fter. Funny that an overpay in 2004 was $7m per year.
It was a textbook contract run. Blount steadily played better over the course of the season in '04 but after the all-star break, he was beasting, averaging 14/10 over the last two months of the season. Danny should have seen it coming, but Blount looked good.
GMs in all sports have fallen for that time and time again. Luckily this was the only time Ainge did, and that was during his first year as GM.

I thought the LaFrentz trade was even worse than the Blount deal.
OMG, don't get me started on LaFrentz. I absolutely hated Ainge after that trade. I finally did get over the fact that maybe he felt he needed to trade Antoine, but could never make sense of what he was actually thinking. Cap space would have been much preferred to LaFrentz.
That '03-04 team is up there my least favorite. Not only did my favorite player get traded, but we also had some gems on the team like Gin Baker, Mark Blount, and of course Raef (I actually kind-of liked Ricky Davis, but can see how his presence may push the enmity toward this squad).
I understand that the 90s were a little rough, but I was a pre-teen/teenager during those years and was just a huge Cs fan regardless of who was on the team. Dominique joining the Cs was like a dream come true!

Blount wasn't worth what we paid him, but he was still a much better player than Raef and at least played a role for this team. Always mystified me that the fans and media didn't criticize Raef more.

I can hate certain players and personnel, but I would never hate the team as whole. Even the sucky era of Pitino years, pre-KG Doc era and Brad's first year have some Celtic pride in them.

I had some resentment for the KG/Pierce teams for their regular season effort from 2010 onward. And, as a poster noted above, it started with Rasheed "Cut The Check" Wallace, who by the end of his career was the laziest player I've ever seen.
After his arrival the C's would regularly embarrass themselves against horrible teams, especially at home.
I get conserving energy for the playoffs... but man, i felt like they developed some bad chemistry and habits cause they dogged it so often.
Doc should have rested the stars and played the bench more. No effort, no PT. He let it slide way too far. We would have ended up with the same record anyways.
I didn't like Pitino, and I absolutely despise him now. Vin Baker and Raef LaFrentz are also on my #### list.
For the vast majority of the time though I've loved these Celtics teams.

I hated the Slick Rick Era, but never the team if that makes sense. I did not care for Sullinger but rooted for him and the teams during games.
