He's a RFA agent after this year, and i'm sure the Knicks would hate to lose him, but are they actually going to give him a max contract based on his injury history and his increased risk to continue getting injured because of his slender, tall frame? I just can't ever remember an instance of a player getting that much money after sitting out a year and a half with a serious injury..

I could envision some drama in NY over this.

Something like he wants to come back this season, while they want him to sit. He wants to prove he’s healthy and get his full max, they want to keep him out to keep teams from bidding.

If he returns and looks like the Zinger again, I could see another team throwing a contingency-free max at him, forcing the Knocks to match.

If he sits out the entire season and some doubt is cast, maybe he gets the Embiid-type of contract.

As others have said, I think they’re going to have to max him, but with some little details.
