Makes sense. Why would morey want to deal with harden again?

Sources tell The Athletic that the Philadelphia 76ers "ultimate purpose in the [James Harden] negotiations was to provide the Rockets with the leverage needed to maximize the return wit the Nets."

The 76ers had real interest in trading for James Harden, but Brooklyn's willingness to increase their offer reached a point where Philadelphia could no longer compete.

Sources also tell The Athletic that the Boston Celtics were involved in the later stages of trade talks as well.

Daryl Morey joined Philadelphia from the Rockets this past offseason and has a long relationship with Rafael Stone. With the 76ers and Nets sharing a division, Philadelphia benefits long-term from Brooklyn sending out the trade package they did for Harden.

lol because we didnt get him and now we need to convince Ben it was a ploy to drive up the price.

We also had to call your agent to tell them prepare to be dealt because that was also part of our ploy had to be very very real.
ok fine

If I were the Sixers GM, I may have been leaking such stories regardless of whether I actually wanted to trade for Harden or not. :P

The thread title makes no sense given your paraphrase from the article indicates that they had real interest in Harden.

How do people get paid millions but cannot shoot free throws?

Giving up Simmons for Harden made no sense

Morey left Rockets to runaway from Harden, his master

Except every report out there says the Sixers had legit interest and included Simmons.

Never understood why teams paid that bum Shaq so much. Guy was way too inconsistent at the line to deserve money like that.
