Like the guy that just makes it a game to watch. Like if he's not doing it, you can't enjoy it nearly as much.

These are the guys to me. I think Tommy is too regional. I'm too young for Howard Cossel.
I don't know my hockey and I find baseball and radio to always be regional stuff.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Walt Frazier is easily my favorite color guy to listen to.

My favorite play by play guy...I really like Marv Alberts, Ian Eagle, and obviously Mike Gorman

Doc Emmerich is the best announcer for hockey and only second in sports to Vin Scully, the announcer for the dodgers who is just a joy to listen to imho.

Mike Gorman is easily my favorite.  When I first heard Johnny Most I hated him....by the end of the third game I heard him announce, I loved him....my favorite all time.  Tommy, the same...hated him at first, but loved him quickly.  Guess it is because I am a "secret" homer, too.  I don't want to be impartial.  I still miss Bob Cousy...despite being a Celtic legend, he is not really a homer.

Hate Marv Albert, but that may be unfair..it may be because of all his baggage...

(Oh, and I used to secretly get a kick out of Howard Cossel, too, but at the time I wouldn't admit it.)

Absolutely (TP) ... Mike and Tommy, without question, because as I was recently told, I "crave announcers who live in a fantasy world" and I can't "handle the truth" and "need announcers who view every play through homer lenses". So be it ... I'm a homer! That's the truth, and I'm handling it just fine, thankyou! :) ;)  ::)

Besides the obvious answer (Tommy and Mike) I like JVG.

"Say Queensbridge now, Ron!"

Hubie Brown has been my favorite for years.  He and Dick Stockton used to be an awesome team.

Also used to love listening to Bill Walton, not because he knew what he was talking about, but because he was so out in left field that it was absolutely hilareous if I was in the mood for comedy.

Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse "The Body" Ventura  ;)

or

Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

Both those combos were awesome, way better than what we have today.  Gorilla was the man.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Absolutely - it always irritates me when the C's are on a national brodcast or NBA TV with other announcers - the combination of knowledge, homerism, and (occasionally) denial is too good!

How about voice of the Red Sox, Curt Gowdy (for old-timers)...and Jerry Remy isn't bad either.  Hawk Harrelson (Chi. White Sox) is one of my favs...because he was a favorite when he played for the Red Sox...and because I still remember the Steak Bomb at "The Hawk Shop" on the Lynnway, ha ha ha, and my stomach rules, in this case.
