Happy Thanksgiving!! What is your favorite thing to eat on Turkey Day?

Happy Thanksgiving to all my CelticsStrong brothers and sisters. May your holiday be a joyous, love filled one.

So just wondering, what is everyone's favorite food to eat on Thanksgiving?

Is it the turkey? Some special stuffing? The cranberry sauce? The baked macaroni and cheese? Cornbread? String bean casserole? Some special dish someone makes? The pies? The cookies?

For me it's a very old family recipe cookie called pusties which is the American slang version of what they are called in Italian. They are made with a sweet dry dough and a filling of curants, walnuts and strawberry preserves.

I am the last of my family that knows how to make them properly after the recipe being in the family for maybe 200 years. I make them only at Thanksgiving and Christmas(because they are so dang back breaking to make), but boy do I look forward to having some on the two biggest holidays on my calendar.

So what food are you looking forward to today?!?!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love hanging out with family and friends, eating too much, drinking the right amount, watching football, gambling and playing cards (euchre).  My favorite though is a simple leftover turkey sandwich.  A handful of years ago I made a turducken from scratch.  When we were cleaning up a bit my wife out the plate with all the meat in the oven to get it out of the way.  The next morning I found it still sitting in the oven.  I was so disappointed about the idea of no leftover sandwiches that I went to the store to buy another turkey to roast for sandwiches.

a family friend of my in-laws that used to come to Thanksgiving before moving to California made Portuguese stuffing that used hot chourico instead of sausage in the stuffing.  oh so good.

Funny how tryptophan works. It sure seems to affect adults, but I don't ever remember it affecting my boys when they were young, and they ate loads of turkey.

All the adults ended up on the couch fighting sleep in front of football games meanwhile the boys are outside with their friends in the neighborhood playing football.

When it comes to pies I am a traditional apple pie guy but man, pecan pie is good too.

Also to answer the original question. I really do like green bean casserole and there has been a Mac and cheese recipe with bread crumbs that has been made off and on over the years that is pretty amazing. Happy thanksgiving to all!

The pies (especially Pecan) & cookies! Brownies too if we have them.

We don't really celebrate Thanksgiving, but we love to eat the pies during the break.
