I got sick traveling in Viet Nam and got this advice from a traveling European physician.

Drink a glass of bottled water with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of sugar.

The salt slows down the fluid loss and the sugar helps your body to absorb the salt.

Hope you're feeling better.

Good advice. That's basically homemade Gatorade I make it myself sometimes did it work for you?

If you're having diarrhea, I'd suggest 7up plus salted/preserved lemon (or limes). It helps with digestion iirc, just a local "remedy" from where I come from.

I don’t have anything to add beyond the Gatorade / lots of fluids, but I just wanted to say be careful and take care of yourself and hope you feel better soon.

I’m curious, when you went to seek medical advice, what was the diagnosis?

My wife made me breakfast (with eggs) about two years ago on Father’s Day. Within an hour or two, I knew something was wrong, but we were already on our way to a party. I left soon after getting there to go home. I went straight to bed until the next morning (went to ER), and only got up to go to the bathroom and drink Gatorade. At the ER, they gave me a one-time dose for the food poisoning and an IV for fluids. I was advised to drink plenty of fluids with electrolytes (Gatorade or Powerade) I came back home after the ER, and went back to bed. I didn’t eat anything for about 48 hours. That was the worst I have ever felt. I would not wish food poisoning on anyone.

I have to admit, I started to laugh when I saw the length of your first post, after reading the thread title. There is no way I would have had the energy to sit down for that long and write a post like that when I had food poisoning. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the extra push fellas. I'm at the clinic now about to receive a shot. Wish me luck, and Go Celtics!

haha!! lol, TP.

Thanks guys TP to everyone here.

Sounds crazy but it's nice to have some friends I feel like I can trust when I'm in a real moment of weakness.

All they gave me was a few sets of pills but I already feel better mentally knowing that it should clear up fairly soon thanks again guys.
Curious what they gave you

Antibiotics, An unknown pill for my sharp stomach pain. Activate charcoal, and a Bowel movement pill.

I can already feel my stomach calming thank God and thank you guys for the extra push I'm stubborn like my grandfather LoL.

Awesome! I'm so glad to hear you got checked out and treated, and things are clearing up!
