One of the problems this year was a lack of a veteran presence in the locker room. Sure, Smart is a strong leader on and off the court, and Horford is the consummate professional, but the 07-08 team had guys like PJ Brown, Cassell, Scal, James Posey, Scott Pollard and Eddie House, and I really think they stabilized the locker room when things got tense. Of course, that team was loaded with strong veterans in the starting 5 (sans Rondo), so they didn't necessarily need that kind of leadership in the locker room. But they certainly helped us win a few big games with important contributions.

In comparison, this year's end-of-the bench featured Yabusele, Wannamaker, Theis, Semi, PJ Dozier, RJ Hunter and Robert Williams — not the kind of strong personalities to hold the team accountable.

Regardless of what happens with Kyrie and AD, I'd like to see Danny sign a couple of vets this summer. My list includes Jared Dudley, Bogut, Tyson Chandler, Muscala, Vince Carter,  Jonas Jerebko, Kyle O'Quinn, Channing Frye, and Thabo Sefolosha.

I also like Kevon Looney but I think after the year he'd had, I think he's going to be too rich for our blood.

Who do you have on your radar? Here's a pretty good list to choose from.

Dudley has shown interest.  Shame we don’t have coaches to take up that roll

Is there any role player/ 3 & D players you think the Celtics should go after?

Obvious ones for me are Patrick Beverly. I would like to see if maybe we could go after Kyle Korver to get some needed shooting, but I wonder if he's gonna be that much of a detriment on defense.

I know most people are going to be miffed and upset, and this is probably an unpopular player, but I would love to bring back Jae Crowder. His toughness, and his fierce personality + Smart would help us get back that grittiness.

I felt like losing a lot of players that hustled and never counted themselves out, were what we were missing from our team.

Anyone else?

I would also like to throw a bone at Dragan Bender. I think he could compliment some team extremely well if used correctly.

In addition to Beverley (who I think will probably cost too much), the following will be UFA:

Thabo
J. Dudley
G. Temple
C. Brewer
W. Chandler
Wes Matthews
Danny Green
Jeff Green

I've always liked Wes Matthews and Danny Green, but I doubt either is available for anything close to the minimum.

Would Thabo, Dudley, Temple, or Brewer be anything more than veteran bench depth?
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I like J Green. Not Uncle 'Snooze,' JaMychal Green.

I think he would be an awesome addition to our bench. I love Wes Matthews, but he's gonna at least get 4-8 million along with Green. Plus if DG stays, it only means Kawhi is staying also.

Ironically, Markieff Morris could be a cheaper replacement for his brother.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Are there any 3&D/Role players that Celtics should go after in off-season?

Yes, we should go after good ones!  :D

Go after with what?    Where do we get the cap space?

I’m open to anybody who can shoot, defend, or rebound, so long as they’re a guy who is a loyal soldier.

Myself, Nick, and gokuii are all partial to Vince Carter and Jared Dudley as bench players, because they’re elder statesmen who would take the minimum.

I like Beverley a lot. If he’d take the Taxpayer MLE, sign me up.

Crowder, I’m not sure about. He’s been the source of locker room angst in the past.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I want Reggie Bullock.

6'7", good shooter, average defense but maybe could be good under a different system.

Sign me up for Dudley. I like Vince too, I'm just not sure he'd come here without guarantees of playing time.

What do people think about Rudy gay? If we can fill the back up point guard slot with a cheaper player, would Gay be a good fit for the MLE?

Pre-injury, he was a pretty selfish player. He seems to have at least partially turned over a new leaf however.

I like Wayne Ellington. He's a very good 3 pt specialist that could be a spark off the bench.

I can't imagine he would leave the Spurs though. He says he likes it there, but I would absolutely love him on our team.
