Ty Warren placed on the Injured Reserve today ... Burgess reinstated. Hate losing Ty ... really bad news. We'll see what Damian Lewis and Gerrard Warren can do.

Story is here.

Nice pre-season win in their first game, though ... looked a lot more synchronous than I expected.

Sucks to lose Warren.  Glad to have Burgess back.  We will make do with out Warrend though even though it would obviously be better to have him.

Does the return of Burgess mean we are out of running for Schoebel? Also, on a side not I am pretty bummed we stayed pat with our running backs. I don't think Maroney is gonna suddenly get it in his 5th year or Fred Taylor and Sammy Morris are going to turn back the clock ten years. I don't know if people realize but both of them, especially taylor are years older then LT and have had many less injury problems. I would have liked us to either draft a running back for future and present, or sign a stop gap like LT if we were not going to.

The DE's are going to be so crucial this year ... we've been weak at wideout coverage for a few years now ... time to tighten up the WR defense. (Man, my heart broke the day Ty Law left ... that was the beginning of the unravelling for our long-pass covergare strength).

Sammy Morris from twenty yards out ... sweet run, and another TD! Can you say "romp"? (I'm lovin' this offensive line). 21 - 3, Pats.

Wow ... every rookie TE for the Pats has a TD in this game ... we may be young, but we're looking very, very good. (28/3) Anybody else watching this game?

Where was the safety on that play?!? That play was totally misread, and well called and executed by ATL.

TP Bahku for the enthusiasm, but you know what.....it's deserved and well placed. The tremendous draft that this team has had over the last three years is starting to mature and the talent that was already there is starting to see that and understand that there's a lot more to this team than most think.

I say watch for a nationally unexpected dominance out of the Pats this year and watch for big years from some of their rookie, 2nd and 3rd year players. Sometimes with this system it takes a while to learn it and play it up to it's maximum. This year I see a new group coming into their own.

This is one of the untouted reasons that make Bill the football "genius" that he is, and it gets talked about very little. His ability to see not just potential, but potential that has the greatest chance of development and realization in the time to come.

There are players acquired two or three or even four years ago, that I seriously had major doubts about, and questioned Bill's judgement on ... players who have now developed in ways I would easily have bet against.

Yet he consistently worked them and molded them to a point where they're now becoming not just highly effective members of the team, but they're also beginning to realize their abilities with a maturity and wisdom that is essential to making a career a lasting one in this day and age.

I am really amazed at what he's accomplishing this year, when the last couple of years have seemed headed for disaster. I now believe this season is going to be one of many positive and pleasant surprises for the Patriots, and I can't wait to watch this young chemistry develop under Brady's virtuosity and leadership.

Man, I'm hoping Welker's improvement isn't being exaggerated ... and Edelman is improving by leaps and bounds right before our eyes. I think we're about to realize another renaissance for this club, and this is going to be a very exciting season!

Hard not to be excited about what we saw in last night's preseason game (I watched 3 of 4 quarters).  There are problem areas, that's for sure, but some big plusses:
(1) Welker back
(2) Brady looking sharp
(3) Impressive rookie performances (TEs Hernandez (wow) and Gronkowski, CB McCourty).
(4) Ron Brace looking like he might not be a complete bust
(5) Running back committee looking good.  I'll be interested to see how Maroney plays in the next game.
Celtics fan for life.
