** How can you ignore testimonials like these? **

I'll have to admit this (PAPOUG) is fun. I even have my oldest son helping me with the picks.

And it's safe...my wife heard about me playing and saw my oldest son's interest and she thought we were betting ;D.

I said, "Yes honey it is a bet, sort of, but it's for Tommy Points, not money."

Her being a very casual watcher of Basketball in general, of course she asks me "What in the world is a Tommy Point", lol........

For me, I use ESPN.com/NBA (only place to use if I'm not mistaken) to pick my players. I try to look at each matchup, especially if a player is hurt and look at who MAY end up picking up his scoring slack.

I also look at trends..for each particular game, there is a "Last 5 games" portion, listing how that player has scored based off of his Seasonal Average.

That's just me..others here may pick their players differently, and my method has only been successful for me about 40% of the time, but it's still fun.

And if the player you picked ends up scoring the least amount of everyone else picked, you STILL get a TP for your troubles..called a Doody.

How about a testimonial?

"I have to say I have been playing for about 2 weeks now and I already notice a difference.

My energy is up. Im smiling more. I no longer have to deal with the daily hassles that come along with not playing PAPOUG.

People have actually come up to me and told me how wonderful I look. I havent felt this ALIVE in years... (Sniffling, sobbing) And I owe it all to PAPOUG.

Thank you PAPOUG!"

Wow if I knew PAPOUPG was that easy, I would have joined weeks ago!

** Since PAPOUG has started this season, my blood pressure has dropped, I've had 27.45% fewer migraines/week, my doctor has lowered my simvistatin dose, and I've even been contemplating answering my phone!

Come join us and find out what "The Most Popular Single Thread In CelticsBlog History" is all about ... it's easy, fun, will get you some TPs, increase your knowledge of the NBA's players, and make every day just a little bit more enjoyable! **

WARNING: This game is highly addicting, and may alienate you from anyone who just doesn't "get" it.

I had forgotten about that post.

Still a fun game even though I'm the Yinka Dare of it.

I'm still with you guys but I only play on nights the C's play.  I just can't find myself rooting for another team's player to score a lot of points.  of course with the way my selections have gone this year, I should pick someone on the opposing team and jinx them as badly as I've been jinxing the C's players  :P

how u play

You pick an NBA player on a scheduled night to score above his average. The more he scores over, the more likelyhood of you winning that night vs the other players.

Bakhu has some links to get you started. Use the 2010-11 averages for the vet players, or wait until at least 10 games for the rookies.

I'm guessing that MarShon Brooks will be a rook that will be used a lot when he is eligible.

The players chosen over the last week or so have been the most popular, with Byron Mullens winning a few for some folks.

Yeah, I think it's time for people to list how many games a player has played next to their picks ... just for a few days.

JANUARY 9, 2012 - RESULTS:

Over

Kwhit - Jeff Teague, Atlanta Hawks: 5.2/20 = +14.8

RebusRankin - Gerald Henderson, Charlotte Bobcats: 9.6/14 = +4.4
Bahku - Jarrett Jack, New Orleans Hornets: 8.9/13 = +4.1
ACF - Ty Lawson, Denver Nuggets: 11.7/15 = +3.3
33-00-32 - Byron Mullens, Charlotte Bobcats: 1.9/4 = +2.1

Doody Prize

GreenFaith1819 - Al Harrington, Denver Nuggets: 10.5/2 = -8.5

Recap:

Congratulations to Alabama on the BCS National Title, and to LSU for a great season. I told you, Rebus ... I knew changing my pick was the wrong thing to do, yet I stuck with it anyway, and cursed Jarrett Jack into an injury, (nothing too serious, thankfully) ... why can't I leave well enough alone, Buddy? Geez. Anyway ... as is his usual way, Kwhit was only sharing the lead in the wins column for one day, and pulled down win number four ... great job, my friend. He and ACF are definitely the hot players right now, and the ones to aim for, (Redz and R2 as well). Well, we're within a game or two of being able to use rookies and this year's averages, so everyone please check how many games your pick has played, please ... thanks in advance. One TP paid to Kwhit for the win, (eight owed), one TP paid to RebusRankin for the sweet second-place showing, and the Doody Prize paid to GreenFaith1819.

You may have noticed a couple of new little icons on the results listings ... one is actually a small pic of Benedict Arnold, (which will indicate picks that are on a team that the Celtics are opposing that night), the "stinky purple pig" icon for Lakers picks, (the other was a bit much, I think), the "L" hand signal for the Doody Prize, and the other is just a basketball for the winner, (similar to the flaming football in PAPTYG - I've yet to find a tiny flaming basketball - ;)). I will also be marking any adjusted numbers by hi-lighting them in orange, (and please let me know of any mistakes/adjustments needed via a PM).

Go Celtics!

** Note: When you make your pick, please try to check and make sure you haven't left anyone out ... sometimes when picks are made close together, the previous player is missed. If you see a duplicate pick, or a pick that is injured, or no game that day, please alert the person who made the pick to their mistake. Also, please make sure your pick has played ten games if using this year's stats - some players' teams have played more than ten, but the player hasn't ... you may be selling yourself short. Thank you kindly! **
