While Vasquez wont come close to last years numbers (2.87 ERA, 238 k's) its another very good deal by Cashman. They give up Melky Cabrera and Mike Dunn who is an ok pitching prospect, obviously a no brainer.

His ERA will probably go up to around 4 and his strikeouts will go down, but he should give them 200 innings or so and win 15+ games. Thats a pretty deep and quality rotation with CC/Burnett/Pettitte/Vasquez/Joba/Hughes.

Well, that opens up the door for them to swoop in on the Bay/Holliday sweepstakes.

I'm not too worried about this.  He'll log a lot of innings, but I do not think he's going to be that good.  I'm expecting an ERA of at least 4.5.
do it

Yeah.  I was pretty happy about this.  It's easy to look good in the NL; wait till he has to play the Sox and Rays for 1/4 of the games he pitches.

Also, if his last time he faced Boston is any indication of things to come (when Damon knocked him out of the game with a 2nd inning grand slam in game 7 of the ALCS in 2004), I'm all about him being in pinstripes.
