I totally forgot to include "The Breakup" on my list.

That concludes my fav five chick flicks:

The Breakup
The Heartbreak Kid
Along Came Paulie
Mean Girls

Obviously I value comedy in my chick flicks.

isnt that an oxymoron.....best chick flick?!  ;)

TP, great comment.

As for chick flicks, I'm not a massive fan. Although I did like Definitely, Maybe and Shakespeare in Love. There are probably a couple which are tolerable but none that jump out at me.

1. "My Sassy Girl", not the US remake with the same title (but it wasn't total crap either).

2. "IL Mare", not the US remake entitled "The Lake House".

Roy Hobbs, beware of "The Lake House".

Edit: I would like to throw in my cast for 3. "High Fidelity".

High FIdelity is the best breakup movie and the worst breakup movie all in the same thing. Its the best cuz he moves on...its the worst cuz they get back together. Take it as one who knows.

Confessions of a Shopaholic and He's Just Not That Into You I have recently been forced to watch. Meh. Mildly entertaining I guess.

The Break-up is a movie you go see with your girl when you wanna..you know..break up? All the stupid faults in that movie are every couples faults just highlighted.

Guys, a "Great Chick Flick" is NOT and oxymoron...

1. The Graduate
2. Say Anything (trust me, she's already seen it)
3. Pretty Woman (ditto)
4. Il Postino (The Postman) -- I'm talkin' seriously good!
5. Annie Hall
Very nice list, REggies Ghost.  All very good movies.  If you liked Il Postino, I'd think you liked Cinema Paradiso, which was waay better in my view.  (I speak (spoke) Italian, so have an affinity for good Italian movies)

I think most romantic comedies fall into the category and think both Tin Cup, and The Tao of Steve are good too.  I thought Tao of Steve was an excellent movie.  Loved the ending of Tin Cup.
