In the NCAA tourney, I saw some Rodman level potential.   The combine body metrics scare me, that he has T Rex Arms.

Rodman???

Rodman has a 7'5 wingspan hehe

But I get what you mean

T-Rex arms are a huge red flag for big men, especially for tweeners. most successful undersized big man (like Draymond) have had a long wingspan.

He reminds me of Kenneth Faried, but in a good way.

actually this a pretty good comparison...good one

This is as close to a pure PF/C comp as you will find for Clarke but the problem is even Faried is 4" long wingspan, 6" long standing reach and almost 20lbs heavier then Clarke.

Clarke

Height w/o shoes: 6'7.25"
Wingspan: 6'8.25"
Weight: 207lbs
Reach: 8'6"
Max vert: 40.5"
Bench: 10

Faried

Height w/o shoes: 6'6"
Wingspan: 7'
Weight: 225lbs
Reach: 9'
Max vert: 35"
Bench: 16 reps

The best measurement comp currently in the league is probably Rodney Hood

Hood

Height w/o shoes: 6'7.25"
Wingspan: 6'8.5"
Weight: 208lbs
Reach: 8'7"
Max vert: 36"
Bench:  N/A

In terms of a player with a similar physical profile who the team drafting Clarke could hope to emulate

Aaron Gordon

Height w/o shoes: 6'7.5"
Wingspan: 6'11.75"
Weight: 220lbs
Reach: 8'9"
Max vert: 39"
Bench:  N/A
* he posted a 10.81 Lane agility similar to Clarke's  10.61

I like Clarke, I am just fearful of the average wingspan.

not that Marcus Morris is a bonafide starter in the NBA, but doesn't he also have T-rex arms?

Can't jump very high/not explosive either

Another comp might be Jordon Bell. Bell's wingspan is a little bigger than Clarke's, but they are similar in that Bell is asked to make up for being an undersized center/pf by using his motor and bounce.

Morris is 6'7" without shoes with a 6'10" wingspan.

Marcus Morris isn't a primarily defensive player, lack of length is most problematic of all on that end of the court.

Brandon Clarke is going to make it or not on his defense, which is why I worry about him translating. That being said I wouldn't have a problem with Celtics taking a swing at him, a reasonable pick for our range. He's was so very good this season in college, incredibly smart defensive player.

He does need to improve on his 3 pt shooting though

Comparison: Jordan Mickey? ( ;D)

Also a blocking monster that didn't succeed in the NBA, because he wasn't big and skilled enough.

I think that his utmost ceiling would be a Shawn Marion type of playstyle. Amazing feel for the game, makes good passes, can lock down people between 2-4, and can knock down shots at a respectable rate. If everything pans out you are looking at an awesome team first player. The perfect 4th of 5th guy in a sense.

Like others here, I am afraid of his wingspan. He is obviously a freak athlete, but his measurables make him an explosive wing in terms of size. In the modern day you want the opposite. You want a PF with SF skills, not a big SF with PF/C skills.

Edit: Wow his standing reach is an inch shorter than Hoods, and 6 inches less than Faried who I consider undersized. That's scary.
