Iceland - Greece

update: 10-26 in favour of Greece. Looks safe. Still, p amazing that Iceland with a tiny population put together a competitive team.

update II: towards the end of the 2nd quarter, Gr is leading by only 6. Outside Calathes, Gr guards not in a good day.

Quick summary of results:

Slovenia defeated Poland

Gr defeated Iceland

Germany defeated Ukraine (ederson any thoughts on Theis?)

Italy defeated Israel (69-48, that looks bad for Israel- btw Datome 13 pts and 3 rebs)

And the two surprises of the day: Lithuania lost to Georgia (didnt watch the game, but apparently Georgia's best player was Baskonia's Shengelia) and France to Finland (Markannen 22 pts, 7 rebs)

I only watched a bit of Greece's and Slovenia's games, the Dragic-Doncic backcourt looks good.

Waiting for Spain's debut tomorrow against Montenegro.

None....
I didn't watch the full game and Ukraine is no powerhouse. 8ribs in 22mins is pretty good though.

I watched most of Finland France.... As usual France blew an 8p lead in the last 2 mins and lost the game. Markannen made some great shots....

Markennen seems to be a nice pick by the Bulls, almost thought that they reached with the pick.

Theis has a VERY quick 2nd jump. His frame and shoulder/arm stance reminds me so much of Birdman.

I watched the whole Germany-Ukraine game, and to me Theis didnīt really look like more than an end of rotation player. Although he had a quite good defensive impact on the german team, and was setting some nice screens, I wouldnīt be to optimistic about his future. Even in this game were he didnīt start and just played against ukrainian back-ups, he didnīt dominate or look impressive.
After all I think we can be happy if he is able to participate as a non minus in his minutes, which might be possible due to his defense, and the minor role heīll play on offense (is capable to finish alley oops).

Anyone can lose to anyone at FIBA Euro. I am only hoping Croatia is not the squad that reminds us of that. Our inconsistency is astonishing.

Rebounding reminded me of Celtics, 19:11 for the Magyars at halftime.

Belgium defeated Great Britain
Croatia defeated Hungary
Serbia defeated Latvia
Spain defeated Montenegro
The Czech Republic defeated Romania
And Russia defeated Turkey

-Serbia-Latvia was a fun game to watch. Serbia cleared the game in the last 2 mins, but until then it was open.
-Not one player of Spain had to play more than 20 mins, and the game was over before halftime. 11/17 3pts too.
-I didnt watch Russia-Turkey but Shved and Mozgov had good statlines (22 pts for Shved and 9 rebs, 20 pts for Mozgov). Also, in a perfect world, Turkey vs Spain in the the Quarterfinals would be a fun game to watch - this result made this matching a bit more likely.

Update: FIBA posted a highlight from the closing of the Turkey-Russia game. Nice play by Shved. Also I had not noticed it earlier, but Russia removed the imperial eagle from the uniform, and made letters golden. Not bad.

Greece-France is obviously the game I worry about today. If we win we can play the rest of the games with the confidence of the favourite. If we lose, the doubting might start.
