The three players on Team USA that have played the best in the tournament are, pretty obviously Kemba Walker, Myles Turner and Jaylen Brown.

Kemba is consistently the guy they go to for buckets when they need them. Turner has been stellar as a big man in a more big man oriented game than the NBA. And Jaylen has been their best perimeter defender as well as their best two way player.

I missed 2nd half but my dark horse candidate for most surprisingly good player is Derrick White. I really like his game. He’s going to make a mark in NBA. Very intelligent and composed. Not overly athletic but makes good decisions and processes the court quickly.

While it's true Jaylen Brown is more valuable than Sabonis, Ainge and the Celtics already lost leverage.

Next summer's free-agent class is weak.
Jaylen will be one of the top free-agents next summer.
Of course the Celts will be able to match any offer, but if another team overpays Brown and the Celts will have to choose to match or lose Brown for nothing, that will handicap the Celts in the long term.

Ainge avoided that scenario with Avery Bradley, opting to trade Bradley for Morris before Bradley became a FA.

The Celts need another PF after Al Horford left.
Right now Tatum will be the starter at the 4 by default.
But Tatum's not yet ready to be a full-time PF.
Tatum needs more to time to develop his body.
That's why a guy like Kevin Love makes sense.

Kevin Love is a very good shooter and rebounder.
He can play the 5 in small ball situations.
The question is are the Celts willing to absorb Love's contract.

Sabonis is also going to become a FA next summer.
Same with Brown, the Pacers can match any offer.
The problem is the Pacers already gave Myles Turner a big contract and they just drafted Goga.

With Bogdanovic leaving the Pacers and Horford leaving the Celts, a Brown for Sabonis trade helps both teams.

The duplication is with Hayward and Tatum, not Brown. Getting rid of Brown does not solve the team imbalances. Hayward is not suited to a position other than small forward full time.

If you really feel we have to play someone other than Tatum at power forward, Brown could fill that role too. I'd rather play him there than let him go for Sabonis.

I like him too but it feels like he can't hit a shot in FIBA play. Still, good player.

All of Brown's four assists were pretty nice passes.

TP for the link.  I missed the game today.  Looks like a pretty easy win.
Brown again with 2nd most minutes played, shot better, and looked good in those highlights.

can't wait for the C's season to start.

I suspect if you asked Danny the answer to this would be absolutely not.

Team USA is making it hard for me to root for them considering they keep playing against my team. Today, they beat my Brazil (I am Brazilian) and next up, France (my wife is French). :)

Edit: Maybe they are beating all my other teams so I can ONLY root for them.

Nice story for Brown - he’s earned it. Love to see him keep rolling against the tougher teams we face next!

I think we need Brown to take that mental leap more than anything else this year. We just need a guy with upper-end talent to have the attitude that he can stop anyone on the court and score on anyone on the court. We need that edge.

I think he has the mental game down. What he needs is more polish and experience, as well as a much longer leash than last season. It's infuriating when Brad Stevens yanks him due to one isolated defensive lapse or botched offensive possession when others get a free pass.
