Smart and White are supposed to be excellent defenders. Why can’t they keep Young and going middle every time he has the ball?

It is normal for big guards like Smart & D White to struggle more with short speedy guards like Trae Young.

Big guards advantages defensively tend to come more in switches, in close outs, in shading over and reducing driving lanes & passing lanes, and in interior defense & rebounding.

Their disadvantage tends to be small speedy guards.
