He's not been getting much play this season, but he was a solid 4 last season and Kemba is friendly with him. Not sure we're interested

If Thompson isn't getting bought out, I'd go after him. Reliable defender, can hit 3s at a pretty good rate, and a veteran presence.

Marvin would be a nice target for a number of teams.

Now that I think of it -- Houston would be perfect for Marvin. They need another combo forward size for their small ball lineups. Sorta like when D'Antoni's Phoenix team got Tim Thomas on a midseason buyout all those years ago. That would be fantastic for Houston and probably the largest role that Marvin could get from any of the playoff teams chasing him.

Also be a good pickup for the Lakers who need more size at SG-SF-PF to fix their small ball lineup options. Their insistence on playing big has helped them in the regular season but it'll hurt them in the playoffs. Getting a guy like Marvin will help reduce the damage of their roster construction mistakes.

I wonder if the Dallas Mavericks have enough juice to get Marvin's interest. They would benefit from having another SF-PF option.

Yeah, plus he's some good insurance. Would allow us to go big sometimes too, rather than only really ever going small. 6'8" with an apparent 7'3" wingspan.

He really does fit Houston for me. He could do their small-5 thing quite easily, as he only really shoots threes and can switch on defence.

Maybe we luck out and Kemba tells him how awesome Boston is. They were tight in Charlotte.

Hard to see that as a bad move for him...

He's definitely better than Brown and Wilson, and I think he's a better fit next to Giannis than Robin Lopez, because Robin can't shoot (despite trying).

Plus, I think after years of being on a terrible team he's purely ring-hunting right now.

I posted about Marvin Williams as a good buyout candidate about two months ago. What a shame he went to Bucks. Guess he figures it’s his best shot at a ring.

Don't like Marvin going to the Bucks. Where is the playing time going to come from?

At his natural position, PF, the Bucks have Giannis and Ilyasova. Marvin isn't dynamic enough offensively to play SF anymore. That isn't going to work well. I guess they can drop Robin Lopez from the rotation and play Ilyasova/Giannis at center. Not sure they are willing to do that though.

Why go to a team to sit on the end of a bench when you coulda gone somewhere and played? I hate that.

Guys should want to play. Not get bench splinters.

Williams minutes are down, but he is having one of his better seasons with several career highs in per minute production and his 2nd most efficient shooting season.  I think he will be like a 10-15 mpg type player for the Bucks this year and will be a nice addition to their bench.
