The Pirlo free kick was beautiful.

I think it's pretty cool Brazil is showcasing their new venues in anticipation of the upcoming World Cup.

They sure do have passionate fans, and a great atmosphere for soccer in Brazil.

Spain playing a more attacking lineup here.

Xabi Alonso out so Cesc Fabregas gets the nod. Excited to see a more forward thinking Spanish side. A bit more like Barcelona. Swapping out that deep playmaker in Xabi Alonso for an attacking midfielder in Fabregas.

Casillas
Arbeloa - Ramos - Pique - Alba
Busquets - Xavi
Pedro - Fabregas - Iniesta
Soldado

Spain are incredible. What a first half performance. Thoroughly dominating Uruguay.

Hard to see anyone stopping them.

Neymar scores again. Less than 10 minutes in. First a volley with his right foot into the corner, the second a volley with left foot into the corner. Beautiful technique.

Certainly making his mark on this tournament.

Edit: Oh my goodness that was a beautiful bit of skill to setup that second goal right at the end of the game. Fantastic bit of trickery to escape two defenders on the left side of the box and then squared it for Jo. Amazing footwork and close control.

Very impressed with some of Neymar's passing. The vision and ability to find holes in the defense. So well rounded for a forward. Special player.

What a back and forth affair this Italy/Japan match has been.  Been on the edge of my seat the last 45 minutes.

Goals galore!

Excited for this Italy vs Brazil game.

Disappointed that Pirlo isn't playing though. I don't know Italy's two wide attackers who have come into the side. It looks like they might be fielding a weakened side. I think both teams are already through to the semi-finals but they still have seeding to play (try to avoid Spain).

I am happy Hernanes is playing for Brazil. I think they need another passer deep in that midfield to help organize the team. There has been too much onus on Oscar to do all of that so far. Hopefully they can find more cohesion with Hernanes in there.

Italy's midfield struggling badly. No getting on the ball enough. Not keeping possession well enough. Not creating chances. Balotelli getting no service.

Brazil trying to attack but not enough incisive attacking in the final third. Got a goal of a set piece. A very good delivery from Neymar. Dante with the tap in.

Halftime. 1-0 Brazil.

It is so much more fun to watch Mikel play for Nigeria than Chelsea. Why can't he play like this at Chelsea?

Mikel is such a good talent. Wastes it away though. Doesn't get enough out of himself. Doesn't impose himself enough at club level. So much better for country than club. Mikel plays with so much more confidence and freedom when representing Nigeria. Dribbles with the ball. Looks for defense splitting passes. Aggressive attacker from deep in midfield or the hole. Plays with belief and creativity.

How much I would love to see to see this Mikel show up in Chelsea shirt once in awhile.

Enjoying this Final between Brazil and Spain.

Brazil really rattled Spain early on and still causing problems whenever they get forward. Arbeloa lucky to still be on the pitch. He should have been sent off.

Oh and that was a brilliant goal line clearance by David Luiz. Fantastic defending. Loving how comfortable David Luiz and Thiago Silva are in possession. Making it much harder for Spain's pressing game to get at them.

Ohh, Neymar puts them up 2-0. Terrific shot. So much power.
