If Hayward opts out it will alter what Boston can do.
All you get in return is a 9 mill MLE. My guess is Boston would not make trades (Kemba) and continue to build through the draft hopefully by moving up

No doubt it would cripple Boston

So crippled that they basically have the same team that beat Toronto in 7 like 2.5 months ago.

So? That raptors team wasn’t that good. And they lost to Miami. Bring back this same team and they go nowhere in the playoffs. Worst bench in the nba.

Ugh so horrible to have to bring back this young team built around two young stars and watch them grow together for another season!

We're cursed! So tough to be a Celtics fan.

Please share with us who you are exited to watch off the bench? It is a collection g leaguers and oft injured players. Starting 5 is fine. Bench is awful.

Until Hayward is traded, Marcus is a pretty nice 6th man.  Hopefully we find a rookie who can play rotation minutes. If Langford and the Williams's improve normally, that could be a pretty competitive bench.

It does sound like Hayward is going somewhere, but something useful should come of that.

Think it is safe to say Hayward’s days as a Celtic are over.

Yup. No ill will. He had brutal luck here. I kind of feel bad for him.

Yeah, I'm glad he's been able to play and play close to all-star level even after that gruesome injury. Sad it didn't really work out here due to the injuries but at the same time he wasn't a "headcase" here or anything. Seems like he just did his job when healthy and his teammates liked him.

It will always feel like a "what if" though if Hayward was healthy during our previous playoff run all the way. He returned and did well in one game but clearly he was not close to 100%, or even 75% it seemed.

Trade definitely seems most likely, but could also see this them continuing to work on an extension.

I’m sure more tumors will leak out tonight to give us a better indication

Not the leaking tumors! 2020 has been bad enough!

I'm not sure about that.  Assuming that something is brewing I'm pretty impressed with how little information has made it out.  We've literally heard nothing other than extending the deadline and that wasn't until an hour before the original one.

There is a legit debate whether Horford, Hayward and Kemba were max players when they signed here for the max... if you don’t live up to the max contract fans  sour on you and you leave ( for more $$ though)

Isn't that how Ainge works?  Any dark horse teams or is it just Indiana?

So is there a credible leak on what actually is going on yet?

It's one of those two things, I don't think we know enough to go one way or the other. Maybe when the picks are made tomorrow we will have a better idea, unless that's going to be a separate deal.

Until Woj or Shams say something I don't take anything as credible

Unfortunately the market determines who a max player is. And often fans have a different idea to the market on the value of a player, so they are most often dissatisfied.

But realistically how could an extension be worked out?

No way they could sign Tatum to max. And also Hayward for the money he is likely looking for
