Why does it feel like this one is not going to go in Cs direction?

I'm actually more confident today than I was heading into the weekend.

I am going with Miami as my final answer. Think he is not as loyal to Utah as everyone thinks.

Going to Miami makes them a 6 seed at best in the East..esp if they lose Waiters and James Johnson.

I will be really disappointed if Boston misses. It will look poorly on Ainge...even though I think his overall goal is to wait out the Cavs/Warriors and keep drafting lottery picks..which is a good idea

From your username, I'm guessing you're living in Orlando, right?

What's the vibe there on if Hayward comes to Florida or not (Miami)?

I am growing increasingly more confident it happens. My gut all along has told me he leaves Utah. To be able to be in position to notify teams tonight leads me to believe he walked away from Celtics meeting confident in his decision and checked all the proverbial boxes on a decision that was likely already made. If he was wavering, he might need the holiday to decompress with family.

One could make argument that the decision he already made was in favor of one of the other 3 teams (Miami or Utah) but I think as a former sports player, you just respect your previous coaches. I can't imagine how cool it would be to reunite with a high school or college coach at the pro level. That's gotta touch a nerve deep down and Gordon Hayward seems like a well rounded young man who values family.

So before the announcement, Gordon. Welcome to the Celtics family!

Good to hear.  What has changed for the positive?

I'd be surprised if it was us. I really would. My gut is telling me he's gone to Miami. Sorry Utah.

We actually moved to Ohio a few years back so I am stuck now in Cavs country. I can give you the pulse about that. There is a real sense that James is going to bolt after this season and the roster is not good enough to win it all again. A lot of Cavs fans expect a total dismantling...including Kyrie being traded. He won't stay if James leaves.

James is not doing one thing this summer to recruit players and to get guys to cleveland. He has washed his hands of it

I think Hayward will pick the Celtics. I think he feels he owes it to Stevens who helped get his career started.

I think Utah is out. He signed a offer sheet with Charlotte 2 years ago.

Miami can't beat the Celtics with or without him.

Signing with the Celtics changes how he is perceived throughout the league...just ask IT, ask KG, ask Allen. Going to the playoffs in Boston makes you a household NBA name.

Why? What's happened that boosted your optimism?

Yeah, I just hope it's NOT with the Lakers, although it probably is  :(

Would be interesting to see where Kyrie gets traded in that case.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
posted this in the other thread but appropriate for all GH discussion today for good feeling quota:

"It comes down to where I can compete for a title," [Hayward] told ESPN.com's Zach Lowe in December. "Where I live—that doesn't affect me. The limelight doesn't matter to me. I just want to make a run at it."
- Gordon Hayward
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
