He’s too close to getting the opportunity to play with his son at this point.

Yeah this makes no sense. It's all he's talked about. Now he's close and wants to retire?

Maybe his son told him he doesn't want to? Or maybe Lebron is just too tired of languishing on a team that isn't really that close. I mean besides the Mickey mouse ring the Lakers have not been a factor.

This year they made a great run but they got swept. Never thought I'd see that from a lebron team. They at least won 1 game against those warriors teams.

Maybe he looks at next year thinking unless there is major improvement with the roster you are looking at another struggle to make the playoffs basically hinging on Anthony Davis staying healthy

I expect he ll take a player /coach role where he can find one with who ever drafts little Bron . He wants to see that his son gets a fair chance at NBA life.

Old Bron still scored 40 the last game , played amazing for his age.  Problem is he can only do that at series . He get hurt  too easy if he played like that 80 games. He is mostly an offensive player at this point , with occasionally a brilliant defensive play , it just taxes him and he falls off on offense.  Defense is too hard for an old man to bring 36 minutes.

What a "nothing burger"!  Not surprised though, so very on brand for him.

The only thing bigger than his forehead is his ego.

There is 0% chance he retires without a year-long, nation wide, ESPN-induced stroke fest, farewell tour.

This. No way he goes anywhere without the light show, gifts and standing O that he'll get at every stadium. It will be like the evil version of the Mariano Rivera send-off.
