6 titles over 10 years with the same (or at least somewhat continuous core) in the era of free agency is a pretty good argument. Obviously not as successful as Bill’s team though

6 titles in this era would absolutely put them in the company of Russell’s and Jordan’s dynasties.

Not to discredit the 60’s, but most of those titles came in an 8-9 team league (of which 6 teams made the playoffs, and needed only 11 wins to the title).

Doing it in this era, with 30 teams, draft lottery (and tanking), free agency (and diva trade demands), 6 titles with the same core is extremely impressive.

It may not be 8-straight and 11-in-13 impressive, but it’s in the conversation.

Yeah what’s the point in having hope for greatness right?

I feel really good about this team but we're all jumping the gun with expectations.

I realize in theory because we didn't have hayward and irving and we were within mins of beating the cavs and now LeBron is gone that we 'should' be next in line. but we're still a ways away from that being reality.

there's a lot of things that 'should' happen with this team this yr. but can we let 'em play a game before we start with the crazy talk... and maybe stop jinxing things too.

Beating the Warriors would not make us the greatest team ever (see Cavs team that beat the 73-win Warriors or the giant team that beat the undefeated Pats team).

But it would be a heck of an accomplishment and fun to watch.  And I think it's possible.

Pretty sure the league handed the Cavs that one to create a fake rivalry, and it backfired by bringing KD to GS

Be excited for this season. I'M excited for this season. But nothing is a given in sports. And these guys have to get through a whole season without any major injuries, which is a tall task in itself.

this thread right here is why I really dislike most other Celtics fans.

this team has a lot of promise. but typical Celtics fans have to blow everything out of proportion and make premature dumb claims that makes realistic Celtics fans embarrassed for the fan base.

the reality is like I said this team has a lot of promise for this season and going forward but in the NBA teams like this(young) tend to have to take their lumps before ascending to greatness.

Hyperbolic optimism from fans >>>>> hyperbolic pessimism.  If that's my hill to die on then so be it. This stuff is supposed to be fun, and I'm glad enthusiasm is so high, and thrilled that the team I root for is so good that people can make this sort of extreme prediction.
