I wonder if Kraft Dynasty LLC will be listed in the credits.

It's real hard to like the Kraft family at this point.  I certainly don't buy anything they say at face value.

I agree. Thought this excerpt stood out…

"Asked whether Kraft had any motivation to keep Belichick off the sidelines, a source close to the coach said: "If Bill goes on to have success and Tom already had success, then who does [Kraft] have to blame?"

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I also want to point out, the team had nearly 100M in cap space and needs at many positions. They barely addressed certain positions and still have nearly 40M in cap space, and most of their signings were keeping the same guys they had. So I guess it wasn't Belichick the GM, but Kraft limiting spending? Because of course that lighthouse is expensive!  ::)

Kraft's shields are now gone. No one is gonna blame Mayo or the new staff if things go awry, a lot will go Kraft's way. Good luck.

Belichick’s assessment of Drake Maye:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_NNTvM5HnQM&pp=ygUcYmlsbCBiZWxpY2hpY2sgb24gZHJha2UgbWF5ZQ%3D%3D

Sure whatever Belichick. You would've traded that pick for 2nd round picks and draft another special teams player. Nobody cares about your assessment...good day

Patriots extended Barmore for 4 years 84 million. It is worth up to 92 million with incentives, and only half is guaranteed.

Fantastic deal and this was my #2 hope this offseason (#3 draft pick obviously was #1.) Getting Barmore on a long term deal is fantastic for our franchise. He has shown a great work ethic while here and has gotten better every year when healthy.

So the Vikings offered 11th, 23rd, 2025 first round pick, and pick swaps but the Patriots declined and drafted Maye. Thoughts? Should they have taken that package? Would they have fleeced the Vikings?

Nope. Not at all, that's not worth the #3 pick. And btw, at #11 the Pats would have only had Bo Nix to choose from, everyone else was taken in the Top-10 including Penix. I know some theorized they do this trade and then trade up again using #11 but seeing how things unfolded, idk if some of those teams would have moved either.

Maybe NYG were fine staying at 6, but they certainly wanted Maye based on rumors (they made an offer to NE as well). ATL took Penix. Vikings moved up a spot and took McCarthy. Wouldn't have been easy and ultimately might not have been worth the trade down to begin with.

Minnesota also isn't a team that "bottoms out" much. The 2025 1st could have very well been a pick in the 20s. Meh.

Now the Giants offer? It was #6, #47, 2025 1st. I might have been okay with that actually, because I think NYG lost a ton in the offseason and could be a team where the 2025 pick would land Top-10 or even Top-5 (NYG isn't projected to be good at all). And at #6, the Pats could have still landed McCarthy or Penix.

I like to think though, the Pats had conviction and loved Maye and took him at #3. I'm good with that too.

You say that the Pats would have been left with Nix but that really isn't true as the Vikings were able to trade up 1 spot and take McCarthy.  So the most likely outcome if the Pats make this trade is that they would have gotten McCarthy as the Vikings did.

I wonder if MIN does this trade once they knew they got McCarthy.  The Pats still could have traded once MIN was on the clock.  The trade would have simply been Maye + the cost to trade up to 10 for McCarthy, #23, and a First in 2025, plus the swaps (the report I heard was the swaps favored MIN).  Probably, once MIN was able to move up to get McCarthy, they were a lot less interested in a trade for Maye.

The big surprise of course was ATL taking Penix.  But even if they took a tackle or whatever, that would have only meant that probably both Penix and McCarthy could have been had at 11 or 10, since no other team took a QB or moved up to take McCarthy.

Absolutely should have made that trade in hindsight, although I was pretty surprised McCarthy remained on the board as long as he did, so I get bit taking it on draft day.

I'm just happy we ended up with Maye. I have been pining for him since October when it became obvious the Pats were terrible.

We can trade down next offseason after we get another top 5 pick now that we have the QB prospect.

Pats betting that Maye will become an elite QB, and that McCarthy will not.  Who the heck knows? Mayo said Bill would have traded down. Based on his commentary during draft on Maye and JJ, I agree with Mayo.
