PAPTBG Playoff RulesSeeding is determined as follows: The top
nine players qualify and are assigned points in reverse order for both bases and averages, but as the primary goal of the game is bases, that number is multiplied by
two, and then added to the number assigned for averages, as follows:
Bases:1st place = 18 points (9 x 2)
2nd place = 16 points (8 x 2)
3rd place = 14 points (7 x 2)
4th place = 12 points (6 x 2)
5th place = 10 points (5 x 2)
6th place = 8 points (4 x 2)
7th place = 6 points (3 x 2)
8th place = 4 points (2 x 2)
9th place = 2 points (1 x 2)
Averages:1st place = 9 points
2nd place = 8 points
3rd place = 7 points
4th place = 6 points
5th place = 5 points
6th place = 4 points
7th place = 3 points
8th place = 2 points
9th place = 1 point
*
Example: Say you were
third in bases and
fifth in averages, then your points total would be 19, (7 x 2) + 5. If this formula ends up with two people in a tie, then the higher seed is determined by the most number of games played. *
Wild Card GameAfter seeding is determined the eight and ninth seeds will play in the Wild Card game to determine the final playoff spot, with the eighth seed having choice of which team they prefer. Each player will then pick a player from their team to represent them in that single Wild Card game, the winner moving on to the playoffs.
MatchupsWhen all playoff seedings have been determined, the top seed will then pick for the league, (American or National), and team they prefer, with the other league being assigned to the second seed. The matchups will be as follows:
League 11st seed vs 8th seed (1st seed gets choice of league and team)
3rd seed vs 6th seed (3rd seed gets choice of team from remaining League 1 matchup)
League 2 2nd seed vs 7th seed (2nd seed gets choice of matchup & team from remaining league)
4th seed vs 5th seed (4th seed gets choice of team from remaining League 2 matchup)
Lower seeds must pick their players from their assigned teams, and
you can only use a player once per series.
Re-seeding will be done with each new series, and the same preference of choices is given to the higher seeds. So if you are the higher seed and choose a particular team for the first series, it does
not mean you have to keep using that same team if you make it to the next round.
WinsTo determine wins by game-to-game basis, the total number of bases decides the winner, if that's a tie, then it's the
type of hit that determines the winner, (home runs beat triples, triples beat doubles, etc.), and if
that's a tie, then the number of RBIs decide, if it's
still a tie, then each player gets half a win.
As far as each series goes, the number of games won determines the winner. If the number of games won at the end of the series results in a tie, then the total number of bases decides the winner. If the number of bases earned results in a tie, then the
type of hits decide the winner, (home runs beat triples, triples beat doubles, etc.). In the unlikely event that all these factors are
still tied, then RBIs are used as the final tie-breaker.
Picks are due by the start time of each game, and missed picks, late picks, and DNPs, will result in a zero score for that game, or
minus one base if the opponent earns no bases.
Please PM Bahku or Redz with any questions or concerns, or if you have any ideas about improving the game, just post them and we can kick them around a bit.
Thanks!

2012 PAPTBG Playoffs** As I wanted to use averages this year as a factor in seeding, (as an incentive for players who might not have been able to participate consistently), but still want to put the primary emphasis on bases earned, (as that's the "name of the game", literally), I assigned a point-rank for each, but multiplied the bases rank by two, (tie-breaker preference to number of games played) ... seeding is as follows: ** 1 ) Bahku - 26 (Chooses league and team)2 ) 33-00-32 - 25 (1st choice of teams from remaining league)3 ) SlamTheKing - 20 (1st choice of teams from remaining series)4 ) Redz - 19 (1st choice of team from remaining series)
5 ) ThirstyBoots18 - 146 ) GreenFaith1819 - 11 (129 Games Played)7 ) Dark_Lord - 11 (29 Games Played)8 ) Rondo2287 - 6 (Wild Card)
9 ) YokiIsTheName - 3 (Wild Card)As Wild Cards,
Rondo2287 and
YokiIsTheName will play for the eighth seed on Friday, in a deciding game between either
STL/ATL or
BAL/TEX.
As the higher seed,
Rondo2287 will choose which game
and team he wants, (and a player from that team), and
YokiIsTheName will then pick a player from the opposing team.
Please keep in mind that one game starts early, (at 5PM), and if that's the game chosen, you must get your picks in by then, (STL/ATL is at 5P, BAL/TEX starts at 830P).
I will have the "Big Board", (with matchups, days, times, etc.), up over the next day-or-so, along with links needed.
Colors designate matchups.
Feel free to post any questions or concerns ... thanks.
