In other ways this is good for the Celtics, we play the Clippers twice in the next 7 weeks, so if it's 8 weeks instead of 6 we'd miss him both times, which shouldn't hurt our chances to win games.  We also have their second round pick, which while still of low value, has probably just become slightly better.

do we ever go more than one season without a clipper pick in our arsenal.

That's Doc looking out for us and giving us some Clippers picks for the future. What a guy!  ;D

NY has their 2018 2nd already, and since we've already got their 2019 1st, we can't get their 2018 1st.  But maybe Phil can give us that 2nd so we don't have a void in our hearts.

Is the benefit of being healthy and rested greater than the fact that they will not play together for 2 months to you guys ?

In the case of the Clippers, Paul, Griffin and Jordan have been playing together for fews seasons already so this might not hurt them as much...

I hate to see a guy get injured, but hopefully we can now pull ahead of LAC in the standings.  I want BKN's pick to be as late in the first round as possible.

This may actually give hope that SAC hold onto Cousins. If suddenly LAC, a high seed in the West, starts to slip in the standings, it may give hope Vlade and may cause them to hold onto Cousins until at least the summer. Then its 50/50 on whether he gets traded or stays for the long run.

Which may mean, it will be a completely crazy May for the draft lottery, June for the draft and July for trades.

Well it seems pretty likely they will fall down the standings without both Blake Griffin and Paul. They are currently only 4 games ahead of the Thunder for the 7 seed. If that happens and they potentially would have to go through San Antonio, Houston and Golden States to try and make the finals with no homecourt in any series. I would qualify that as extremely unlikely.

Yeah, they aren't in the East where there is really only one team you would want to avoid.  They also aren't a team like Golden State or Cleveland either.  Fully healthy the odds were against them.  If they fall out of the 4/5 seed range, they will be lucky to make it out of the 1st round and it would be a miracle for them to make the WCF let alone the NBAF even if they were fully rested and not rusty.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

If they can hang at 6 I think they'd be fine.  Houston is good, but I'm not sure they're markedly better than a healthy Clippers team.  In any case they'll get to avoid Golden State until the WCF.  I can say for certain Houston and San Antonio aren't really happy with the situation either -- they could get the #2 or #3 seed and wind up facing a healthy Clippers team in the first round.  Some reward.
