The defense really straightened out in the second half. I agree that simply taking care of the ball better would have resulted in a 15-20 point win. Do referees just simply not like the Celts in the 3rd quarter. The last two games have been atrocious in the 3rd quarter.

How Legends are born. Heckuva game, Cap'n!

Meanwhile,  subbing PJ for Perk was key. C's tightened up on D and ruled the boards. Great effort down the stretch.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Held them to 5/20 in the 4th (really 4/20 cause Odom's shot was an offensive foul). Thats Defense.

Whatever money we paid PJ Brown was worth it. Cassell, I'm not so sure. There is just no in between with that guy. He's either hot and carries you for a short spurt, or he kills you.

Perfect.  Loved our second half play (for the most part), hated the first and second half play of the hated Lakers.

And I love the youngest Celtic, Little House.  Kid has mad energy off the bench--how could you not try a little harder with a young guy like that looking up at you?

I'm gonna direct this one at Roy because he's my money numbers guy.  How many straight shots did the Lakers miss to end the game?  It seemed like 30.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Celtics critics: Defense wins championships. How quickly they forget that. Tonight they got a reminder.

The best thing about tonight's win and the way that the Celtics, with defense shutting down the vaunted Kobe and the offense, the Laker trolls will be gone or silent until at least Saturday. It will probably take that long for them all to remove their collective feet from their collective mouths.

By the way(stretching my arm around me to pat myself on the back), in my thread questioning whether the Lakers can win close, low scoring games I stated they had no experience with it and they give away too many possessions to be effective in a low scoring contest.

I LOVE WHEN I'M RIGHT AND THE LAKERS LOSE!!!!!!!!!

I've waited 22 years for revenge on that 1987 series.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!!!!!!

TRUTH!! TRUTH!! TRUTH!!
TRUTH!! TRUTH!! TRUTH!!
TRUTH!! TRUTH!! TRUTH!!
TRUTH!! TRUTH!! TRUTH!!
TRUTH!! TRUTH!! TRUTH!!

YEAH CAPTAIN!!!!!!!

please for the love of god no more Sam Cassell... we won in spite of him tonight.   We could have had this game a lot earlier

No, we won inspite Perkins; he was horrible tonight! hey Perk man, where is that Texas spirit? what a hek?

Cassell did make 3 shots when we needed it desperately, but yes he rushed shots later
