If Udoka is suspended for the year, why would we not just have Brad  be the interim coach/GM? He sells it to the players that Ime will be back, and we need to go out there and win a title. If players tune Brad out, he’s now got the trade button at his disposal, so I doubt that happens.

Winning a title as coach/GM is doable (see Pat Riley in 2006; Bill Belichick 2001-present). If anybody could do it, it’s Brad. There’s not enough time to find a real head coach and we have one of the best head coaches in the NBA on staff. If it becomes too much for Brad, he can make Zarren interim GM while he focuses on coaching. It also gives Brad a year to see if coach/GM is sustainable beyond this year. It just seems like a no-brainer, right? This could be a good thing (as awesome as last year was, perhaps with the buy-in Udoka got coupled with Stevens’ coaching brilliance, we could have finally beat Golden State?)

Other thoughts on an interim replacement for Udoka?

It’ll likely be Mazzula, who was a finalist for the Jazz job.  Brad isn’t going to take back over for a season.

Brad should probably call up Bill Belichick to get some advice on what it's like to be GM and coach at the same time lol

Wyc should probably give Brad more money so he can dual-job. It's gonna be a very demanding life for Brad if he takes on that role on top of doing GM stuff.

#JTJB (Just Trade Jaylen Brown)
#JFJM (Just Fire Joe Mazzulla)

What makes the most sense to possibly save Udoka and the season:

1. Udoka suspended for the year / say he’s going into rehab treatment so the public takes it easier on him and maybe, just maybe, he survives the public backlash and can be head coach again in a year
2. Stevens as interim head coach
3. Zarren as interim GM, with Stevens having final say/veto power on the roster/trades, so the players understand that Stevens is still the highest authority with the backing of ownership

Bonus: If Zarren can be the one to send Ainge’s son to Utah…

But Stevens is an overrated coach who’s ability to get the most out of a roster is inverse to that roster’s potential?
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

Give it up Greeny. You can wish for it till the cows come home but will never happen. Those two roles are too big for one person. Even Pop gave up the GM role. Plus the players have moved on. Ime's assistants would have a better handle on what the Cs are doing tactically than Brad would be at this stage. Plus Brad doesn't want to coach anymore.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

If he is suspended for a year, I say one of the assistants will take over
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Agreed.

When the Celtics post 74 wins and win a title this year, does Ime get his job back?

God, I hope that's a problem.

Juan Benet Ramsey is a helluva handle.  Bravo to anyone under 30 who gets the reference.

First off, woke up to the news on Twitter and didn't even want to come here today.  Can we catch a break for pete's sake!

Anyway, I agree, think its Mazzulla too.  I don't think Brad wants the double duty.  The question is, what if the interim wins a championship, can Ime lose his job over this?

If the C’s win a title and Udoka is out the entire season, I would imagine there would be a parting of ways.

They really need to release the details about who the person is because that has to play a big part in the severity of the suspension.  I mean if you are talking about an intern that is his assistant, that is lot different than an executive working in the front office because of the level of coercion or pressure that the other staffer would feel.  And to be clear, pressure and coercion is not the same thing as consent.  An entirely consensual relationship can still be entered into because of pressure or coercion felt by one of the people, even if the other person doesn't feel it is a factor.
