Stanly Johnson is going to the Jazz from the Lakers. Would he be a good pick up to back up the wing spot on the deep bench for us for a 2nd round pick into an exception?

always thought he'd have had a better career.  as a backup wing for the bench, he'd be a decent pickup if he's let go and would take a vet min deal

He's solid but not spectacular on defense, and he really sucks on offense.

I wouldn't spend an asset on him.  If we want that profile, sign Josh Jackson.

Yeah, either one of those guys on a minimum deal would be good. I think Stanly Johnson is on a minimum deal and I'd be willing to give a second round pick for him.

Even though I think Kabengele and JD could both play minutes this year, and the buyout market will be fine, we kinda need at least 1 or two more guys...

Harrell should be the guy.... Or just good shooting..

Why, though?  Heís not better than guys you could just sign for the minimum.  So why throw away a pick?  Second rounders arenít THAT useless.

If Iím going to give up an asset, I want it to be for somebody better than the dregs of free agency, at least.

You could sign Josh Jackson to a minimum deal and I think Stanley Johnson is worth a second round pick... Johnson is a physical defender but not much on offense.

At this point he could likely be had for a fake pick, and he's shown more recent promise than many of the guys we have in camp.

I think heíll be acquirable via waivers in three weeks ó donít even need the fake pick.

How does he compare to Semi Ojeleye

Semi is stronger but Stanley is longer and taller. Both role player defenders off the bench. Both are not good shooters.

Man Stanley Johnson's fallen off (and also Semi's been decent for where he was picked)

Too bad we can't bring Semi back. I know in the finals the offensive woes were what did us in, but having Semi defend Giannis would help conserve our players, and having 5 mins of a scrappy guy off the bench wouldn't have been the worst against the Dubs.

The Lakers used Johnson relatively effectively as a small-ball 5 when paired with Davis, and I think he could have a similar role here opposite Horford.  Heís not special, but heís better than Kornet, although Kornet has the advantage of being very tall.

Anyway you slice it weíre going to need to go small ball while Rob is out, and Johnson would fit that mold.

I'd still sign a veteran center -- a more traditional one -- and look to bolster the wing with somebody like Harkless if he's cut.  We don't need great players, but veterans who know how to play defense would be helpful.

I donít think Johnson and another center should be mutually exclusive, but I do think it is telling that the Lakers performed much better when Johnson played relative to Dwight, and really took a lot of Howardís minutes beginning in February.

In other words, while having both would be better, I think if we had both, weíd find that we used Johnson more.
