He could give us good size and scoring at the 4/5 position and basically be Horford's successor once his contract expires.

So this works financially in the trade machine - White + Grant for Collins.

Would you be interested in trading for Collins?  Would you give up those two pieces?

Why would Atlanta make that deal?

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I don't think ATL would do this either.  He's signed to a pretty team friendly deal all things considered, 5Yr/125M through 2025-26.  It's going to take Smart and Grant and maybe even a 1st to get Collins.

I don’t think Collins would bring back Smart at this point.

Atlanta has enough guards.  It would make no sense to trade a very good PF for more guards, even Smart but definitely not White.

White may be a nice trade piece for a big at some point, but not right now and now with ATL.

Before the Murray trade and if White actually lived up to expectations, then this would have made sense for ATL. There were even rumblings of them being interested in White last year. And with us including a viable PF replacement, it would seemingly be a pretty good deal. But, yeah, the Murray trade probably ended any chance we have to make a deal with ATL - at least for now.
