Gonzaga star Drew Timme announced Wednesday he was withdrawing from the NBA draft and returning to the Bulldogs for another season, solidifying coach Mark Few and the Zags as national championship contenders.

Timme, a two-time All-American, initially entered the draft in early April but took his final decision on whether to stay in the draft or return to college until close to Wednesday's 11:59 p.m. ET early-entry withdrawal deadline.

With 45 minutes before the deadline, Timme tweeted out a simple announcement: "I'm back."

A 6-foot-10 power forward from Richardson, Texas, Timme has been one of the most productive players in the country over the past two seasons. Last season, he averaged 18.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists, shooting 58.6% from the field. As a sophomore in 2020-21, Timme put up 19.0 points and 7.0 rebounds, shooting 65.5% from the field.

Timme will never be an NBA star, but I would have been okay taking him in the second round.  The dude has a motor.

I'm not sure he even has a role in the modern NBA game. Look at the NBA  finals, it has no old school centers.

Fair enough, he probably wants that elusive Gonzaga national championship.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

I feel like he would be like Luka Garza who was similarly dominant in college.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Someone told him to go back and develop a three point shot because without it he doesn't have a very good shot of long term improvement in the NBA. Otherwise you're looking at Tyler Hansborough.....at best.

Not sure it will ever be Timme Time in the NBA.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Don't be timid about Timme in the NBA.

Sooner or later his Timme will come.

And if he hangs around the league long enough he may eventually be dubbed ‘Father Timme’

I think Hansborough, or BBD, or Powe are all reasonable projections.  Is there room in the modern NBA for guys like that?

If they can work hard on D and rebound, always
