I probably agree that Braveheart got played out and there isn't enough substance in a move like Gladiator to keep me past one viewing, even if the first viewing was amazing.

I somewhat agree on Gladiator, but Braveheart never gets old for me.  I've probably seen that movie at least 100 times (probably 85 on them my freshman year in college).

Yeah, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers are both just in the pantheon of my comedy classics now. Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Step Brothers. That's Will Farrell's golden age. .

I thought Borat was genius and I wonder how it will age. Part of me thinks it won't age well, like if we tried to make a movie about a French peasant today

The more & more I watch "Raiders of the Lost Ark", the better and better I think that movie is.

Also, I think Independence Day has gone down dramatically since I saw it in theaters back in the mid-90s.

Has not held up well over the years.

French peasant? I don't get the reference.

I was thinking that as time moves on and East Europe becomes more integrated making fun of an awkward East Euro will be like if today we tried to make fun of a group of people that has really made it in the world - economically and politically.  Like making fun of a Japanese rice farmer is just not going to work today.  The reference might become obscure.
I could be wrong

Kiiinnnda like how some of the Bullwinkle and Rocky jokes aren't nearly as funny any more. They're just less relevant.

The Godfather......even better I'd say. Goodfellas and The Sopranos just kinda make it look better. Don't get me wrong. Goodfellas is also better than it was. Still a classic. But when nothing measures up to it after 3 decades it comes out looking even better

Oh, gotcha. Here is why there is hope for Borat:

Agreed on Godfather.  Still a must watch.

Side note on Borat as it pertains to Sasha Baron Cohen - he had a tremendous performance as a quirky French detective in Hugo.  I'm kind of bummed that movie isn't getting more buzz (or maybe it is and I'm just not the kind to hear the buzz).
Yup
