Brady and the Patriots agreed to a two-year, $70 million contract extension on Sunday, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The deal will reportedly pay Brady $23 million this season, which will make him the sixth-highest paid quarterback in the NFL.

Brady will reportedly make $30 million next season and then $32 million in 2021, though both sides will adjust his deal each season he continues playing, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Brady — who turned 42 on Saturday — doesn’t look like he’s slowing down, either. The third-oldest player in the league, behind only a pair of kickers, has said his goal is to keep playing until he’s 45.

What's missing from the report is that Brady's 2019 salary has been increased from $15M to $23M, which should account for the difference between the $62M (30+32) and the $70M reported.

Since he was already signed this season, it's technically a 2 year extension; but it's really like a 3 yr/$85M contract.

If Brady really plays well for 3 more years it will be unbelievable.  I would hate to see him lose his skills significantly in that timeframe.  It will be a crazy adjustment -- unlike any -- when he retires.  A 20+ year run -- incredible.  I hope he gets to his age goal of 45.  At that point I think I might retire as a Pats fan.

Congrats to him - well-deserved.

And - whenever he is done with NE he can come to Washington. Odds are we may very well STILL need a quality quarterback :'( :'( :)

Brady was going to play for 15 million this year? The horror. Didnt Rozier get a 19 million a year deal?

The only athlete I remember achieving much at 45+ are George Foreman and Bernard Hopkins. It would be a great achievement if he can still be competitive at that age.

Good, he deserves a payday after carrying this team to multiple Superbowls by taking paycuts, and sometimes, sacrificing/wasting his years because of trash defense.

If he can win 1 more between now and age 45 then this extension is 100% worth it. Do your thing Tom!

Let's hope N'Keal Harry develops into a stud too

I am going to go out on a limb and say that this extension is worth it no matter what. Even if he gets injured and just sits on the sidelines while we pay him 62M in 2020 and 2021, I will say that he has more than earned it. It's gotten to the point where people have forgotten how many SBs he has won (6) - that is ridiculous!

Agreed, this is a good deal for both Tom and the team. Brady gets a raise this year, and the team lowers his cap number and frees up some money to add to the team. Reports also indicate that in effect those two extension years will be voided, which both sides understood and planned for, and that they will continue to negotiate what will happen for the following season.

As I understand it the two years following this upcoming season are void years, which means in effect that they will never come into play, the team and Brady are just using them to manage the cap. They will need to negotiate what happens after this year.
