I had Detroit projected at pick 10.  4 was higher than I thought, but you can't go wrong with two young quality bigs.

I had Detroit and LA both pegged around the high teens early twenties.

Very interested to see how both of those squads play out. To see what type of advantage LA can get with their higher salary cap + what type of team Detroit builds around their two young big men.

LA not till the high teens?  I thought the Kobe/Dwight pairing with LA's payroll cushioning the impact of Kobe's contract guaranteed them a spot in the top 10.

Agree with the Lakers payroll cap being so much higher than everyone else's guaranteeing them a top 10 spot.  I had them at 6, pretty much where they went.

Ok it was a 50/50 split between two teams for me, both of whom play in the same division...

How much of a debate was it between West and Hibbert?

A banged up Dwight really hurt them for me. I had Nash there instead of Kobe. I didn't think Kobe would be a keeper due to his contract (plus, Kobe is kinda annoying to build around with his selfish ways). So I had LA well back.

I am not sure how important that extra financial wiggle room will be. I didn't give it much value. I am really looking forward to seeing how important all this salary stuff turns out to be.

Haha, I had West's name written down, crossed out, then written down again about 3 times.

As far as reasoning, I mean it's obviously not the sexy pick, but Paul George is just awesome.  Only 22 years old and he's the complete package.

Hibbert has had a down year offensively, but defensively this pairing is about as solid as it gets. The advanced defensive metrics on these two are unreal.

I'd say those two considerations (Kobe's salary and the higher cap) cancel each other out - if the extra payroll room isn't too important, might as well use it securing the better player.

that's a good point.  how are the monies going to be tracked?  do we have to post the salaries of the players when we make our picks or is someone going to validate everything at the end?

also, do we have to worry about incoming/outgoing salaries matching within a certain amount like the CBA?  I really like the idea of trades based on talent rather than $.
