Some bought this up on Twitter last night, but honestly maybe it was a downside for us that Herro didn't play last year's ECF and was limited in the 2022 one. Because boy he sucks. Sure, he can get hot for an occasional game but he's usually awful and just chucking bad shots. Doesn't do much else. Even Robinson, Martin, etc. at least try a bit on defense and can make some plays. Then you have him looking like this postgame:

If Miami wants to get a 3rd star, good luck doing it and convincing teams Herro is worth it. There's a reason some of these teams didn't want to deal stars like Lillard and that's because even they don't see much in Herro. At minimum a starting package for a star looks like 2 of Highsmith/Jacquez/Jovic but probably some more too.

Miami Heat fans out in full force tonight "Celtics be pumping they chest beating a depleted Heat squad. We would've creamed y'all's if Butler and Rozier weren't injured"

Delusional Heat fans, how surprising.  Vegas is probably giving Jimmy Butler 3 points and the rest of the missing Heat a combined 2 points or so.  We were favored by 13-14 points in the home games and still around double digits for the away games, which we still demolished them in.  The Heat, even with Butler, were an 8 seed for a reason

That is rich seeing they benefited last season when Giannis got hurt in round one game one and Tatum got hurt in the first possession of game 7...

They went from "We Want Boston" to "WAAAAAHHH we had guys hurt". Also it's funny because some of them are criticizing Spoelstra despite the fact that four days ago all I heard was that he was god  ::)

Miami needs so much on that roster. Jimmy is the real issue. His lack of desire to play in the regular season puts the Heat behind the 8 ball come playoffs. Then he gets hurt in the playoffs constantly. That guy is so overrated.

Herro cannot defend anyone. If his shots are not falling he checks out.

Robinson has a bloated contract andf can't move. Bam is a side kick but has to play the role of 1A because Butler is always hurt.

If Miami wants to upgrade the roster it they will have to move Herro, Jovic and/or Jacquez. Because if they try to run it back as is...good luck.

Also Caleb Martin is probaby gone as he has a player option. Someone will overpay him.

They were attacking Herro mercilessly last night. He's OK as a 3rd option but when you need him to score - as the Heat did in this series, you see his true value. And then there's the defensive stuff.

This is true.  In particular Brown.  When ever he ended up with Herro on him, he attacked and abused.  Seems like that was the game plan, what they prepared for.

I think Spo made a mistake putting Bam on Tatum last night.  Boston's counter was to accept the matchup and simply let the rest of the offense play 4-on-4 with Miami's only paint protector stuck to Tatum on the perimeter, and that enabled everybody else to do whatever they wanted.  Brown ruined Herro in the paint, White stayed hot, and the rout was on from there.

I get the thought - put your best defender on Tatum - but I generally think putting a big on-ball against Tatum is a bad move, particularly in Miami's situation where they don't have any other playoff-caliber interior defenders.  It doesn't typically bother Tatum much to begin with (see:  G7 against Philly last season), and it also unlocks a lot of other weapons for this offense.

Spo is pretty darn good coach , he plays for antique GM and scuzzy organization.  They would miss him if he left.

We've seen teams talk themselves into lesser talent.

I could see a scenario where Donovan Mitchell tries to steer himself to Miami using his player option as leverage. A package of Herro/Jovic OR Jacquez/future 1st isn't a great package, but I can def picture the Cavs talking themselves into it if Mitchell's agent can scare off other teams.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Idk if possible but I would hate if Durant found his way to Miami. That makes sense (Bam-Butler-Durant with Spo as coach), though MIA would definitely have to empty the farm just like Phoenix did a few years ago.

Not really concerned about KD but Bam-Butler-KD is a much better fit than Kyrie- Harden-KD or Booker-Beal-KD.  Brooklyn easily won the KD trade with those 4 unprotected picks but I'd rather have Bridges on his contract than KD on his contract.

Btw, the fact that Kornet played and handled Adebayo way better than our bigs in recent years (Porzingis, Horford, Timelord, etc.) is pretty jaw-dropping. He looked sneaky strong and defended Bam well. Wowzers.

As a DHO/short-roll big man and an ice PnR defender, Kornet is pretty good. If he never had to venture out of those to strengths, he might be a starter in the NBA. He is limited in other areas though. He's a very good player to have on your bench.

so, I understand this is Miami without butler/rozier/vasquez.

but am I the only one who sees the celtics closing the series out with a convincing blowout win a big deal? not in the context of talent. but on compared to the last 2 years, celtics basically said we are finishing this series and blew Miami out in 3 straight games. Did what they had to do. We didn't unnecessarily extend series because we expected the other team to just roll over. Like we did letting atlanta take us to 6. or like we did letting harden scorch us last year because embiid was out.

i keep seeing comments about our next series on how we will choke and give away games like last year. and maybe we will. But this was potentially a sign of growth on this team that they aren't taking teams for granted anymore.
