Would either team entertain this?

BOS trades: Hayward, MEM #1

MEM trades: Marc Gasol, Casspi

I’m curious about our loyalty to Hayward, and how much Memphis wants it’s pick back.

It would also give us a large expiring contract to trade for Anthony Davis, assuming that Gasol opted in.

I think Memphis might prioritize receiving expiring deals rather than a max contract with two years remaining. That way the rebuild can happen as soon as possible.

Hayward is Brad's boy.

The main reason why Hayward signed with the Celts is because of the chance to reunite with Brad.

I don't see Hayward getting traded anytime soon.

Wouldn't like a frontcourt pairing of Horford and Gasol. The way I see it, Horford is too slow to defend stretch 4s on the perimeter. At this stage of his career, I believe he should play exclusively at the 5.

Not to mention, playing Horford at the 4 would kill our pace. Today's game is all about pace (and space). Really don't like the idea of playing 2 big men at the same time.

I'd much rather give Hayward more time to return to his old self.

this and Hayward is still in his prime while Gasol is on the decline.   If Hayward still looks out of it come the playoffs and beginning of next season (if he's not traded this summer which I don't see happening), then sure, time to consider moving him but I really don't like giving up 2 prime assets for a player in decline whose fit is questionable on the team.

Boy, Gasol looks spent, at least vs us last game. Id have to feel he still has something left in the tank. Also just seems cruel to give up on Hayward this early, though would not be the first time Danny was cut-throat.

He's about to turn 34 and is averaging 33.8 minutes and has played 46 out of 47 games.  He needs his minutes cut back to ~28 like Horford.

The things which concern me about that trade are A. Gasols health/age and B. Hayward blossoming elsewhere making us regret the trade. So I’d say no, but it’s an interesting thought.

I don't think that this is the right time to trade Hayward, if Danny is even open to trading him. His trade value is pretty low.

Gasol looks old to me.

Giving up our all-star player who's 28 + MEM #1 for Gasol who's 34 just because we can't wait for him to recover quickly enough? Realy???

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Wouldn't do it. I'm not convinced Hayward is finished, he's shown in short spurts and flashes of his old self.

We have a 28 year all-star?

Not every player recovers from injury. It’s been 15 months and he still has physical pain and some mental hang ups. If he remains at an Evan Turner level, Gasol would be a huge (and cheaper) upgrade.

Gasol is terrible

He’s averaging 15 / 9 / 5 and is shooting 35% from 3PT while playing very good defense.

They’ll receive better picks in a trade if they’re willing to take on bad contracts.
