As a reminder, there were many people here that wanted Markelle Fultz with the #1 pick. I have some bad takes, but that wasn't one of them.

Yeah I was going to say, thought Ainge was an idiot for trading #1 (Fultz) for #3.

Turns out I'm the idiot

Glad it all worked out beautifully.

Mo Bamba, I thought he’d be a perennial all-defensive candidate given his physique, high IQ & character.

Now he’s in his prime and getting DNP coaching decisions for the 76ers.

That sending KG and Pierce to Brooklyn a mistake.
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

I've archived every draft thread going back to 2008.  You want good reads & laughs, I highly recommend sifting through those.

I remember people yearning for this guy…  :P

I was all for the trade, however I didn't like re-signing them to begin with. I thought the team was doomed for mediocrity by re-signing them. I never would have imagined that trade coming along to not only bail us out, but set us up for the future.

I think Roy and I were some of the very few that didn't like the Kyrie trade at the time it was made.  It just didn't make sense to me without the necessary follow up of trading Brown for Leonard (or something else like that).
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Thought we'd easily beat both Golden State (22) and Miami (23) in the playoffs.

In 2016 I thought we should trade the pick for Butler first (debatable if that was the wrong take or not), but if no trade then I wanted to take a swing on Chriss with the third pick. Loved his size and potential, but clearly the character issues were more impactful to his career.

In 2017 I was fully aboard the Fultz train, though was happy with the trade that netted us Tatum and the additional pick.

Most recently - betting $500 at +900 that the C's would win the in-season tournament. Should've known with Orlando in our grouping that we'd somehow find a way to lose group play.  :-\

The 2016 draft was, by far, the most hotly debated draft on this board.  You had several camps for potential Celtics draftees.

2017 was pretty wild too but 2016 has to take the cake.

I hated Bender and had serious misgivings about Simmons (fist pump!!!). I also liked Jaylen a lot.

On the downside, I was high on Dunn, and thought Murray would be an unathletic stiff. Whoops!

My second-worst take has probably been that Jokic's defense would be the sword of Damocles that would ultimately screw Denver.

But my worst take: going into the 2014 NFL season i thought we'd wasted the back half of Brady's career and should trade him for a king's ransom and lay Garoppolo instead. Thank god I was wrong. And thank god Bob Kraft didn't let BB make that trade.

If we're talking NFL takes, I thought we would make the playoffs this season  ;D

I thought we would win Game 7 against the Heat.

I was all aboard the Kyrie train for most of his time here.

I thought Stromile Swift would be better than Lamarcus Aldridge.

Had some good calls too. Called the Tatum and Big Baby picks, Rob as a steal on draft night, character concerns about Simmons coming out of LSU, team tuning out Brad, DeAndre Jordan over JR Giddens, Durant / Horford / Rondo as my draft big 3 in 07.

There was a game Chauncey billups rookie year where Pitino pulled him after he only took three shots. I thought that was the end of his career because Pitino didn’t believe in him. He went on to win a championship and make all star games. Seems silly now

Related I also never thought Joe Johnson would become as good as he did.

I honestly thought Darko Milicic would resurrect his career with the Cs and be a game changer.
