Bulls trade: Robert Swift and Brian Cardinal

Pistons trade: Keith Bogans

Suns trade: Desmond Mason
Bulls trade: TP considerations

I may be in the minority, but I believe Brian Cardinal is the best player involved in Chicago and Detroit's trade. He won't shoulder the burden of scoring or rebounding, but similar to Scalabrine, he puts his team in a position to win.

In other news I'm surprised Phoenix was willing to give away Desmond Mason, who was a starter at the beginning of the season, before surgery, is a strong defender and still a rotation caliber swingman.

And then flipped him for Stevenson? Who is two years younger, and probably an even better defender, though not as explosive and with a similar history of injury.

Hat tip.

From Phoenix's end, we didn't like Mason because of his 3pt shooting. A lot of our game relies on the big guys getting in the paint, and our wings hitting the open shots. Robinson, Rondo are both penetrators, and we couldn't shoulder the burden of Mason's shooting. I believed more in the need and the abilities of Josh McRoberts and Jason Smith than Mason.

I aquired him in hopes of fortifying my front line with a Joe Smith or Najera type of experienced player. Didn't pan out and away he went.

I think in the past 3 days the Magic have become the team to beat in the East. Snap opinion but look at the depth. Great job GC...just wish you weren't such a tight wad  ;D

Magics are good. I liked the Bulls pickups of Bogans, Deshawn, Mihm, and Crittendon for their D league bench too ;)

I think the Bulls did a great job too, but obviously you have no answer for Lebron..but beyond that look at the defensive depth GC has. Varejao, Foster match up really well with Horford Gasol, and even though like Lebron there is no true answer for Chris Paul, Hinrich will do a good job bullying him when he can.

I don't really like the starting frontcourt for the Magic..they're skilled but not overwhelming..but the defensive depth really puts them right at the top.

Are there penalties for being over or under the roster numbers at the deadline?

Also, since there is going to be a second voting or season this year for the first time will the commissioner open up another trade period before that second season?

Morrison and Knight have been waived.

A shame. As I argued earlier, I still believe Morrison is going to develop in to a solid bench scorer with good size.

Although, I would agree that it's hard to judge his current situation in LA.

I think the Kings got a pretty dangerous team now with the parts they added today.

Agreed. If Thabeet can play solid D as a rookie, they'll be tough.

I don't think that was the idea. i think the 2nd voting session (at the Allstar Break) was to see how the same teams look midway through the season, and then a final one at the end of the season.
