When jonas turns into a beast, this squad will be terrifying. you might as well start him now.

I get that. When he starts beasting against second-stringers, he'll earn the starting gig.

Oh, and thanks, IP.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Point of interest: To go with 16 pts, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 for 8 shooting in a 1 point loss to the Clippers, Stephenson was +16, leading in +\- among the starters by more than 10 points. Danny Granger, who only played 18 minutes and shot .500 from the field, was a -25.

Lance Stephenson: better than you thought. The cavaliers: better than you deserve!

Kyrie/Isaiah Thomas
Stephenson/Ellington
Barnes/ Tobias Harris
Ryan Anderson/ Tobias Harris
Bynum/Zeller/Greg Smith

As the owner of the two best center prospects not named Bynum, i know I wouldn't have traded them for Varejo, so i think you did well especially if Zeller pans out.

Zeller to me was an obvious choice. This season, at least until Bynum comes back (and I am currently furious with the defeatist tone coming out of Philly and their fans..) Zeller gets his royal jelly. But long-term, assuming Bynum ever does have his form back and string together some relatively healthy seasons, I've got a built in insurance policy. Zeller will never be an above average starting center, but Im hoping he turns out to be an elite backup, a guy you can play for 18-20 minutes a night to keep Bynum's minutes down, and keep consistency up while he's out.

Any chance we see Harrison Barnes at SG for the Cavs?

In a big lineup, maybe. Barnes/Harris/Anderson compliment each other well. But until I round out my rooster, Im gonna presume all his minutes at the 3. I need another backup 3 first.

Alright, final verdict before I do something stupid.

My team is in my sig.  It is finished, capped out, and I have no picks left.  Is it a contender?

I think it is, but like people have said before a lot of it hinges on Gasols health. If he is healthy you have a nice balance of offense and defense plus I like him better as a center than a PF as well.

You get my PM?

Thanks for the thoughts.

Yeah, I got it.  Just finishing up here, and then everything's getting tagged with a For Sale sticker.

Haha yard sale! At this point if your team clearly is a contender I don't get why you'd just sit back..have some fun

Hmm ... not sure. The bench is kind of lightweight. Not so high on T.Thompson as starting PF.

That said, I do think Tony Parker, Joe Johnson and Pau Gasol is a core strong enough to field a title contender. As a result, I would be very reluctant to break them up.

Maybe next year with a fully healthy Pau Gasol and with a few of those young bigs (T.Thompson, B.Biyombo, E.Clark) are a year older. That could become a title contender with a bit of luck development wise.

Interesting debate for another time - is that roster better than the Dinobots?

So, after today's action, I think we're looking at a near-finished product.

PG: Damian Lillard / Ramon Sessions
SG: Thabo Sefolosha / Jodie Meeks / Jeremy Lamb
SF: Nic Batum / Maurice Harkless
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Marreese Speights
C:  Nick Collison / Jonas Valanciunas / Jordan Hill (IR)

I view Collison and Speights as PF/C hybrids, capable of playing either frontcourt slot. Having both allows us to bring Jonas along at the right pace.

Pleased to get Meeks at this point. I think his skill set complements Thabo well. We'll also work Lamb, and even Sessions, in a little bit at SG next to Lillard too.

Two picks tomorrow. Barring any major trades, I think this is pretty much where we're at.

This is a sweet roster, and I'm glad you guys kept Jonas. Terrific compliment to LMA. I saw title contender in a year or two, depending on how illard's passing develops. In the meantime, I don't know, probably a 6th seed or so (I'm not looking at rosters, just guessing)

EDIT: I think a lot of people are going to say "how's this better than the real blazers team" without an appreciation on how truly miserable the blazer bench is.

It isn't better than the Bulls.

Thanks, SO.

Yeah, the bar was set low for improving the team, based on the woeful lack of depth on the real Blazers' roster.

BTW, the Henson-for-Speights deal was hopefully to get us into the playoffs, and get the youngsters some experience. Although he's the more talented prospect, I didn't think Henson could give us the minutes/production at PF and C this year that Speights could.
